Shane (13976km):
911 days ago The wind had its weird moments today. Arrived around noon to find the Captain and Dave had already sailed/foiled in behind the bank, and had already clocked up quite a few clicks. But the wind died briefly then refreshed with a lot of East in it. The markers were saying similar. Manly said 23. So the three latecomers: Vando, Nick and myself, decided to head over to the Eastern side of the point to sail. The Captain and Dave stayed put. Well, we rigged and went out and almost dredged for 30minutes, then suddenly, like a switch turning on, the wind came in as an E/NE and the afternoon rescued itself with an enjoyable sail, (except for the falling tide and the close confines of the reefs). Vando and Nick managed to escape to higher water and sailed high to Green Island and around the outer limits to navigate their way back around to the West side of the Point again via the water route. I stayed East side, locked in by the reef. Practiced some figure of eights, gybes and tried out the new 6.6 S-Pace again.
