Coal Point, NSW, AU. Fanatic 900 foil 4.8 Hucker. Well that was scary. First time out on the Fanatic foil, completely different to the Naish, way more lift despite being 250cm less in area. First go I got completely airborne. Moved the foil mast all the way back, footstraps all the way forward, flattened the sail and went back out, much better but still a bit scary in the stronger up and down nor easter. Heaps out.

started very light where I left but then got windy when I got out of the shadow of pullbar.

would have gone on slalom if I had known.

was very lite up wow havnt been on coarse gear for a while it just tries to rip your arms off you have to tell it who is boss because it wants to own you.

did I mention I traveled up the lake and back.

Nice E/N/E at Marmong today, some of the early birds went out early with big gear and were way overdone when it picked up , 10-15 knots.

HWR , Severne HGO 8m , SB Al Race+ 800 , -1 stab shim. Nicely powered/comfortable set up for the conditions.

10-20kts E lumpy as Coal Point, NSW, AU

 7.5m Turbo- Windtech 64 ( 112ltres) - 35 tectonics weed demon - 1 run

7m Turbo - Windtech 57 ( 90 ltres) - 28cm WT weedy

 then 5.7m gator WT57 - 28

I spent more time rigging than sailing and was struggling with no energy when I was. If this was a typical session I'd give it away..

I'm struggling to get sailing fitness back after the extended time off the water and my internal wind guage is right off. I knew it was probably getting to the upper end of the big gear but we didn't think it was going to come in so I rigged big. Ugh.. The board felt like an aircraft carrier , the sail heavy and I was finding it hard to go off the wind in the chop on the way back. Exhausting..

I only got 22.5kts but I was glad to get back in one piece.

I rerigged 7m - 90. I was doing short runs out into the worst of the lumps to practice gybing but soon gave up on perfection and was just happy to get dry gybes. It didn't help that I muffed one and ended up under the sail and only just got out before I drowned Wink.. I was draining water from orifices for ages after..

The board felt too fast for the chop and too much wind so unrig and rerig the 5.7m.

Of course by now it had died and the 7m would have been good..Undecided The 5.7m was SO light and perfect in the strong gusts.. pity there were only 2 x 100m of them..

I've got another mast on order so then I'll be able to have the 7m ( gusting up to c19/20kts )  and the 5.7m ( gusting 18-22kts ) rigged and swap between them.

I'd blame old age but Gert and Lajos ran rings around me today and are more than 10 years older..Embarassed zzzz

I don't think I've fully recovered from being caught out in the S on Tuesday ..

Heaps out- foiling Andrew , Tony , with a cameo appearance by Byron, plus 2 other young windfoilers . Several wingdings. Nic , Gert , Lajos and I on the fins.

A few happy shots - It was windier than this earlier.

 They were towing 2 foilers..

Good on you for trying the 110 Nic. No wonder it was challenging in the on / off conditions over there.

Good video from the other day Sue, very entertaining, Boston sitting there with a broken mast and sharks circling as you went out. I’m also finding my big sails heavy, looks like light wind days coming though to get used to them again

Laughing Thanks Dezza..Cripes , I  didn't even think about sharks..Surprised ( luckily...)

Yes I think I'm almost at the stage of giving in and getting a larger Gator..I do like the power and stability of the Turbos though..

I'm sitting here watching the webcam of the lake feeling I should go sailing but I feel like a 90 year old today ..LaughingEmbarassed..Maybe I should give in, act my age and have a rest day..Wink
