908 days ago Nelson Harbour - launched from Yacht club again. Wind was WSW 10 - 25knots while out sailing, was ave 25knots before I started rigging, so I missed the best part of it. I spent most of the time chasing gusts around and trying to stay up wind as the tide was with the wind. Had a few non-planing runs. The KA Race 6.3 was excellent at absorbing the gusts.
This place has potential for speed on the bolderbank run, as long as you allow for lack of wind near the bank and either rig bigger or just don't go too close, it was perfectly flat water though and fun gybing around the many boats moored there. Notes for next time:
Best tide is mid to high so you sail over the southern part of the sand bank. It would have been better with tide against wind....considering the gustiness of the location and the struggle to get up wind in the lulls.
