Sandy Point, Vic

Nice easterly. 25-28 knots. Low tide early arvi so iy worked out OK. None of the banks lined up well for a speed run, but bearaways into the channel were fun, if brief!  Started on IS80 and 2022 5.7m Race when the wind was 20-25. It started building and I got a 39 peak/38.60 2 sec, but was not quite smooth enough water to get really comfortable. Came in a changed to 5.2m and CA40. At first I was a bit underdone, but then I got a few gusts and cracked a 40,2 peak which was nice. Still having to bear away into the channel an quickly got into big chop, so the bearaways were short. Quite a few other sailors out today on wave and freeride gear. A few T baggers too but they were behaving themselves very well.

Did a 4 way comparison with the LCD Motions and mini Motions with the LCD's in the helment and Minis in my arm. Very, very close accross all 4 devices. Posted from LCD with lowest error. It is interesting to see more sawtooth in the track from the arm moubted Mini's as I hit the chop at the end of the speed runs, but the actual results were extremly close and well within the error margins. Differences in the order of 0.03 to 0.05 Kts. I think that is excellent! Test @ 10Hz comparing old 3 GNSS 3006/3007 Fw with the new 3040 fw. No missed points with any of the devices running @10Hz (see GPS-Speedreader report below)

iS80, 2022 KA Race 5.7m, Atomic Nuclear 20cm, then CA40, 2021 KA Speed 5.2m, Atomic Nuclear 16cm.

An early start to take advantage of the high tide and a chance to explore the mud flats with the Fangy Fin advantage Laughing.

A bit of a fluffy wind but on the plane for most of it except with I went too far into the mangroves chasing speed runs Tongue out.

Simon eventually joined me chasing the flat water as the tide went out. We were joined by the local Sea Eagle who cruised past at 6ft looking for breakfast.

BIG Bird close up

As it got shallower we move further up the entrance until I hit a poor Stingray who then scared the crap out of a following Simon.

Time for us to move.

Bars came out and so did the crowd but still no great wind and it was only the last 2hrs of flat water that the wind came in.

Tried a few different combo's and all similar speeds. Sl120 with the Fangy got to 34, Sl 110 with the Atomic 22 Nuclear got a 36 all with the 7.7.

The Sl87 with a Tribal 24 and the 6.6 made the 36 2sec.

Just not enough angle and wind but a huge amount of fun.

Postie will be the fastest today.  Wink
