843 days ago 2 categories Short solo slalom session in the toughest conditions I could find... spent most of the day in the middle of the river off Dolls Point so I could practice foil gybes in 1m swell. Paid off, with rig flips a little earlier, and a lot lower I only dropped 2 all day.
Used the green and red channel markers as gybe points.
BOX CHOP is WEIRD. Sometimes the combined swells would lift me higher than I expected, so for the next batch I was ready, and they sucked me down... you can't win in that stuff!
Relatively slow NM (sub-20kts) including 2 gybes in the middle of the worst swell I could find. SEND IT!
And the best alpha might have been swell assisted.
Actually nothing beats time on the water. To control lift mid-gybe I still use the sail power and mast pressure, but one gybe I felt the sail go light as a lull hit, so intuitivly I applied more down force with my arms on the boom which worked a treat, flipped the sail and stalled in no wind, but was a perfect reaction to the situation. ToW !
