Short solo slalom session in the toughest conditions I could find... spent most of the day in the middle of the river off Dolls Point so I could practice foil gybes in 1m swell. Paid off, with rig flips a little earlier, and a lot lower I only dropped 2 all day.

Used the green and red channel markers as gybe points.

BOX CHOP is WEIRD. Sometimes the combined swells would lift me higher than I expected, so for the next batch I was ready, and they sucked me down... you can't win in that stuff!

Relatively slow NM (sub-20kts) including 2 gybes in the middle of the worst swell I could find. SEND IT!

And the best alpha might have been swell assisted.

Actually nothing beats time on the water. To control lift mid-gybe I still use the sail power and mast pressure, but one gybe I felt the sail go light as a lull hit, so intuitivly I applied more down force with my arms on  the boom which worked a treat, flipped the sail and stalled in no wind, but was a perfect reaction to the situation. ToW !

Kyeemagh, NSW. 20-23kn NE'er. RS5122, Loft racing blade 7.8m, 40cm fin. Another patchy, gusty day with big bullets and big holes. I think it stabilised a little late but too tired by then. I saw Giorgio's post about getting out of practice on the fin so decided to give the foil a rest today. Started on ther isonic 107L but just tooo hard work! I'd also forgotten ythe workout your knees get trying to get back upwind over the chop. Intersting that for me there is under 2kn difference bwtween foil and fin under similar conditions.
