Melville Beach, WA, AU.  There was wind and surprisingly no crowds.   First few laps were a bit hit and miss but wind improved and got a pleasant enough sail in albeit normal gusty holey Meville. Reg's alter ego batnam weight Scotish Pete the only other slapper out who was running circles around me.  There was a ominous looking frontal system coming in but this coincided with both the wind dying and Windxtasy/Rafael coming out.  Raf lasted one lap, I chugged another lap and then left Windxtasy to it.  Was nice to get out two days in a row.   Standard big gear but no FF28 which is still getting subjected to various tortures.

Melville Beach, WA, AU iS111, 7K, 40 LE weedy

Saw some wind in the trees and headed down to Melville. Most of the wind had gone by the time I arrived, windmeter reading 5 kn with 8 kn gusts. Flex decided that was enough and headed out. I was sure that wasn't enough, and decided to wait and see if picked up a bit.

Flex' first few runs were not encouraging, but then the wind did pick up a little so I rigged up, had a bit of a chat with Reg, who had turned up to walk his dog, and then headed down to the water just as the wind died completely. Who needs wind? Were is the challenge in sailing with wind? I can tell you the main challenge in sailing without wind is actually getting on the board in the first place. My back does not like uphauling a 7m sail. Eventually a micro gust came along that enabled me to beach start. I planed a few times, had some good tacking proctice to stay upwind, and generally had a pleasant float around, even though the sunshine had mostly gone by then.

Roll on summer.
