700 days ago Cabarete, DR. Fun day in the big swell. Took a wider board with outboard footstraps today, and things finally felt comfortable. Had a blast going down the swell that gets pretty sizable in 6.0 wind (freeride sail - that would have been a 7.0 race sail in flat water). Happy that I started getting comfy on day 3 on the water - I remember needing almost 2 weeks to reach this point, although that was almost 20 years ago, and before all those ABK camps.
Local meters today showed 16-20 mph wind averages. In Kalmus, I'd need meter readings of about 25 mph to feel as powered as I was once a couple of hundred meters from shore, so the meters here read a lot lower than meters at most other spots. It's way windier here than the wind statistics show - and those are not too bad as they are.
