first timers to hardies, spent most of the day on the speed boards (including races) with a bit of time on the 94L isonic.. pretty tired zzzzz

Headed out from Flying Squadron on Fanatic Falcon 90 with Koncept 6.6 and Goldwing 32.  Just cruised back and forward from Melville to Point Walter for about 3/4 of an hour.  Nice sail.

The distance opportunity presented so Snides and I went early!

Used IS 122, Koncept 7.5 and 40 drake for most of the morning except for the hour or so i screwed around and wasted time on Manta 64 and Koncept 6.6.

Arvo session all Manta and 6.6 and 34 [now 33] liberty goldwing clone.

Snides still burning up the estuary when I left - expect really big things!

Firstly, CONGRATULATIONS!!! to PD, Claude, and most of all, Snides on sailing such incredible distances. These are achievements you will look back on for many years - I am in awe!

For the rest of us it was Reg's Mandurah Drags at Hardies and conditions were perfect 18-20 knots - great for five races. I used the Manta 59, Koncept 6.6 and Goldwing 33 to go pretty well, but Slowy, Matt and Isaac were smokin' fast today and stole the show in a fleet of 40 odd punters.

Had a brief few goes down the run at the end on the Manta 49 but it was neither windy nor smooth, so will have to come back again in search of an NM Pb.

Nice cruisy afternoon at Hardies. 7.5m Koncept, SL62 and cl 36cm slalom fin. Did two runs on the SP50 at the end with Matt's sail. Other than that it was all pretty much just racing with the boys. My back leg was killing.

Istaaack (4358km):

Was heaps of fun and excellent conditions!

I think Mandurah has more crabs than the leschenault inlet after walkin the sandbars yesterday!

Great idea Reg!

broke my own rule today in terms of never going for distance, had a plan with 25 to get 200 so we arrived early (7.30am) to find some good wind. turns out the conditions where perfect for distance so i decided to test my fitness...12 and a half hrs later i was satisfied with cracking my distance pb....its 10.30pm just finished the 1.5 hr drive home so i will detail further tomorrow.....

cheers to Tim and Claude for waiting for me.

ohh and little creatures pale ale thanks ado!!

edit: Nebbs has informed me i had posted the distance as trackpoint (my apologies captainWink) so i have updated to doppler..

Hello Crew,

I hope I have posted these details correctly......., it's good to be involved!!!!

Want to thank Nic (Stinger) for teaching me how to post- thanks mate.

Great session at Hardies Run, however not the max speed I was searching for.

Is it possible to call for a swab??

I'm thinking that 12.5 hours on the water must need some sort of chemical motivation WinkLaughingLaughingLaughingLaughing

(just joking, 400kms is awesome)

Just  a guess , but i think the carton of creatures pale from ado would have been "chemical motivastion" enough :P

cheers Carl i also thought Sam's effort was simply stunning and unreachable- at 5.00pm yesterday i still thought it was out of reach!

i was very lucky to get great conditions for all of the day except for the last half an hr.

i have to say the 200odd i did on the river 2 yrs ago still ranks as my hardest sail to date, that was a serious work out compared to sailing the esturary.this location is a dream for distance and hrs due to its endless flat water.

the results i have posted are doppler using a gt31 and checked in realspeed,(nebbs has a copy in his email for checking)

i have tried to analyse the track in gpspro but the 4mb file has it stalled,(realspeed had no issues with the size)

on recollection i remember stopping at around 200 for aprox 20mins and changed down to a 5.8 kon (previous was a cred 6.7)

i then stopped at 303 km for about 15mins to top up the water.

next stop was at 8.30pm some 12hrs and 29mins after hitting the water.

some stats-

food consumed for the day- maccas capo/hashbrown on the road

                                        5 milo bars

                                         20 snakes(never again)

                                          1 ltr of water

117 gybes most of them crap espec the 1's late in the day

ave speed for the day inc stops 17.85kn

6 x 20kn+ hrs

15 x 27kn nmiles

Awe inspiring all round...something for new sailors like myself to ponder - massive achievements, both the 10,000km and 400+ in a day (12hours+). Truly ironman stuff. Just goes to show this GPS competition has something for everyone - perseverance, courage, commitment, stamina, willpower - and much more.

Jeepers team, i've finally woken up from my jetlag to remember that i was peed off about missing Reg's Races in the first place and only just checked the results today. What an effort !! Snides, Claude and PD, just amazing numbers guys. It took me a while to register your numbers Snides ! 416km. UNbelievable !!!! I remember many years ago, when i was younger and much fitter, sailing at Safety Bay for 7 hours and being absolutely smashed afterwards, but 12.5....you da man. Well done boys. Still peed about missing races
