SKUNKED!

Huey, what happened? We were all counting on you.

Waited and waited for it to kick in but it got worse and worse. Should have taken the Formula gear.

Sorry captain - best I could do.

Safety Bay, WA, AU

attempted to put in a good hour for the first time ever i think and not bad in the end but was hoping for a little better oh well went as hard as i physicaly could and after sailing between pengos and the beach about 4 times i was buggered

fastest 2 sec on my 7.0 by about 3 knots today

the bar was actauly really choppy today because there was alot of traffic

darryl and anita showed up a bit later for the best of it

and claude was there early

both claude and darryl were on 7.0's tooSurprised

not really over powered though so they must have been pretty under done

7.0 reflex, 76 isonic, 24 custom weedy and 85 sonic, 24 custom weedy

76 faster but 85 more comfortable

Safety Bay, WA, AU 85 Sonic, 5.8 Koncept, 24 elmo weedy, 28 FO weedy. 20 knots

I had set myself a goal of 30 knots for this year and with 2 days to go I was running out of time. Arrived at SB late to make the most of the wind and tide. First run was the best and showed 30.05 on the dial and I'll have to be happy with that even if it was knocked down considerably for the 2 sec.  Leading up to the run was pretty choppy and I kept spinning out. 50% of one run down the bar was sideways! Changed to the 28 fin but it wasn't as fast although much more comfy.

Well, we all thought there would be a lot of wind. Macka Packa was most distraught having a leave pass for today which, it seems will not be available again for some time. Keep working on it Patrick.

I enjoyed some light wind practice with the Iso 122 and Turbo 7.5m. I love that sail. It seems so light, yet has good early planing abilities which came in very well for the odd bits of wind we had this afternoon, especially on the almost flat water.

Big day @ Hardies.

Got down there just after 12 and the breeze was just booting in.

Rigged the 7.6 TR7 + Futura 111 + 38 Sting.

First run off the beach I was fully lit.  Decided to launch straight into an hour.  Toughest hour I've ever done, overpowered from goa to whoa and the chop through the middle was sizey.  By the end of it I was just barely hanging on.  Stoked to PB Smile, last PB was over two years ago, but a little disappointed it wasn't quicker.  Time to get back in the gym and work on the grip strength, my lack of fitness stopped me from going quicker.

After the hour I came in to change down.  It was gusting to 25K and I was tin fruited!

Set up the 6.6 TR7 + 90 XFire and spent the rest of the arvo on this combo.  Ran a pointer (32 Goldwing) then switched to a weedy for some runs down the inside run.  Got the best mile on the outside run.  Pretty happy with that NM as it was choppy outside the markers, but I was pretty lit up.  Best peaks were on the inside run, but the breeze wasn't as strong and I couldn't sustain a good naughty.

Busted my fave 190 Maui carbon boom after sailing too far in and running aground Cry.  I got nearly two years out of it, which is a good innings when you're at the upper end of the bell curve for sailor weight Undecided.

Rerigged with my back-up 170 boom and decided to go for a distance PB as well.  At the end of the day I got greedy and went for one run too many....Huey turned off the tap, and it dropped from 20-25K to 15-18K.  Of course this happened right after my longest downwind run of the day and I was down near the island.

Couldn't get going for love nor money Yell.

Walked in to the shore, and Mark sailed down to see where I'd got to.  We switched boards, but even with his 121 iSonic I never looked liked planing.  He sailed my little XFire back to base and I dogged, body-dragged and walked down to the canals, where Mark was waiting to ferry me back to Novara.  Big thanks mate Cool, I wasn't looking forward to trudging through the mud for an hour to get back to my car.

Long assed day.  Eventually got home at 9.

That's me done for 2011.  I can't make the marathon tomorrow, time with the family for NYE Cool.

Been a cracking year of GPS fun.  Happy New Year to all the GPSTC crew.

A day of almost.

On the water at 9 with almost enough wind but only covered 20 ish miles in the next 2.5 hrs.

12pm and the wind booted in a wild ride at the end with the LB7, is121 and LE 40 weedy (great fin thanks for the loan Windxtasy) for a 21.4 Hr.

Came in and rigged the LB 6.3 and the Lorch DivS 83 (thanks to Elmo now known as Lurch) and kinetic 27 weedy.

Was not up for an across the Estuary Hr run on the speed board so tried Snakey's run. Definitely see the potential but could not crank the upwind like the Snake for the 23+.

Came in and changed to the KACL 23 for the inside run. Went down to join Yoyo, Hardie and Decrepit. Peak speed down there and had a go at about 3 alphas (two of 24+). 2nd best nearly crossed so should have done more but too much effort when distance was the target.

Sailed back up to the boat ramp and put some weight in to have a go at the inside Naughty. A 32.66(peak 34.97) was followed by a 32.92 (peak 34.89)to almost be a PB (missed by .05!).

Wind dropped off about 6 so went back out on the 122 with the 6.3 which felt a very odd combo. Could not see Pointman anywhere and his wagon was still in the car park. Finally spotted him right down the bottom of the run. Sailed down in a dying breeze.

Switched boards but he still could not plane so suggested he sail down to Mandurah Quays and I drive down to get him.

Sailed back upwind and found that I was almost at a distance PB (3Km short). Thought about another quick run but decided that I needed to get to the pick up before Pointy landed.

By the time we drove back it was too late! Almost! but a great day.

Well done to Windxtasy on the 30 display 2s and 5x, Scarrgo on the Hour, Pointy on hour and KM PBs. Great effort team!

Note to self don't do 150KM on a speed boardUndecided

I hate to quibble, but why does KA 72 tell me my 5X10 was 27.22 when taking the best 5 5X10's off the GPS gives me 27.41? (28.26, 27.48, 27.31, 27.03, 26.98)

Elmo

Australia

If I understand this correctly (rpobably not)

Your GPS recognises 2 sec as second (speed reading) + second (speed reading)

whereas software counts the speed over 2 seconds which for your GPS means second (A) to second (B) to second (C) a-b=1sec b-c=1sec

same with the 10 sec

if you want it closer to software make your max speed 3 sec and your x10 11 sec

other than that enjoy the heartache like the rest of us

still doesn't take it away from you that you had a blitzen sessionCool

imagine what you an do now with the right tide now you have the 30 monkey of your backCoolCool

Plug in works on my ipad? Dont know why it doesnt work on macs? Here is the description i get. When i select overlay in ka 72 * Note - the Google Earth Plugin will only work with some browsers/operating systems. However you can download the kml file generated for this overlay from this link and manually process it yourself. * Another note - the track overlay presented here has been "smoothed" to remove excess data. Many sailing sessions consist of 10000+ data points, which take a long time to transmit via the web, and a long time for Google Earth to process. This track has been "smoothed" to remove excess data and make it quicker to transmit and present. The word link in the first paragraph takes it to a page where you can open the file in google earth.

The big question is......where is the captains time sheet? Usually mark is one of the first to put his scores on the doors! Hope he's not had a gps failure. Been reading with interest the huge difference in conditions from mandurah to lano. I decided to go for a sea sail at dutchies in the 20/30 knots predicted but was greeted with a 5/10 knot onshore ( lucky for me snides that was a 5k round trip rather than 235!). Hope mandurah turns the wind on for the marathon today. Cheers, jonah.
