Fun session with the boyz in a super gusty liptons. Plenty of power in the gusts. 7.0 NX,91 RS2,25 ws.

That was a nice day out at Liptons with Flex, Decrepit, Warricle, Hardie, Antman, Mark Woody, Basil and Uncle Tom Cobley and all!  I thought they were nice conditions with a dead onshore breeze allowing long runs parallel to the coast.  iSonic 90, 6.2 Mach 2 and 30cm weed fin.  I suspect that some of the youngsters will post good speeds today, especially over the Nm.  Good numbers overall, Anita will be happy.

Peel Inlet, WA, AU   Arrived to find Decepit, Reg and anothers I don't know already out. Woody and Antman had just rolled up but the wind wasn't looking that great.  A council worker was oddly looking for a dead bandicoot up a tree and questioned whether we had seen one??    Rigged the 7.8 and headed out with wind fairly inconsistent.  Picked up and it was out of my pay grade holding onto this sail with the chop so downsized and got rid of the booties.  Felt much more in control.  Spent some time trying to get some shots with the gopro but suddenly everyone had left and was just me and a kiter.

Wind became much more consistent and the chop died down.   Spied a couple of dolphins near Point Grey but quite a way away and I'd already passed them. One had the most beat up dorsal fin I've ever seen. On next run kept an eye out for them and there they were, dead ahead.  Pushed the button on the gopro (not that easy for rookie in chop) and they disappeared.   Suddenly saw this huge water vector travelling at crazy speed, 90 deg to me on direct collision course...was completely certain they were going to hit me and had zero time to do anything.  Just before impact they turned 90 deg as if it were no big deal and headed in my direction at my speed, the pair of them side by side.  Hoping like hell I got them on camera..will post a video if it comes out.  Did a few more long laps with the camera running all the time hoping my new mates would come again but they didn't.   Considered staying out and going for distance but it was a bit lonely and didn't seem much point with no one else.

Came in and the sole kiter came in too asking for help to land his kite.   He was showing me his high tech setup with phone stuck to his board and real time posting of speeds and heights, real time leader board and also showing you when friends arrive at your spot. Suffers from phone GPS but the other stuff seemed interesting.  theSurfr.app   120 Tabou rocket, 7.8 Severne Overdrive then 6.7 RRD Move, 28 FF (still untouched)   Was gonna change the fin when downsizing but thought I'd try the big FF for reference..

Fun sesh on the new (secondhand) Starboard race foil + a loaner from Dazz + 7.8M3.

Breeze was fresh with some solid 20K+ gusts, so I was lit on the combo, but it was only 15K when I left home so I didn't pack a 7.0.

The race foil is sick.  Compared to the GTR (with a 95 fuse), the Race set up has the 115 fuse and man what a difference.

Took a while to suss the trim going upwind, cos she was hunting upwind in the gusts like a beast.  Had to really press with the toes to keep her level, which is killa on the calves.

Downwind was fun as, with some long stable fast glides downhill.

So a really fun intro to the race foil, looking forward to tuning the gear in less wind. Smile

Great to see you out yesterday Pointman, looking good. Yes the 7.8 could of been a handful at times. ( I was on a 6.0m:))

Bit of a delay getting a video together but here it is for anyone interested.   got 50% of the dolphin encounter.  gopro took a while to start and then didn't point camera down enough when they were next to me.  Padded it out with other shots of the day of the various characters. Youtube still processing high quality so watch latter if poor quality  https://youtu.be/IjCXB_wNau0

Great video! Those dolphins would have been a buzz.

It looks like hardly any wind but you guys are flying?

Excellent capture of the cold, windy, desolate Peel Inlet and some cold, windy, desolate dedicated Speed Sailors.  Great video Flex and great editing.  Thanks.
