Lake George. SA.

Last minute decision for a quick, 3 day road trip.Smile

Nice warm up sail for 2022 in lots of good company. 15-20, increasing to 20-25 and then dropping again to 18-22Kts.

Sailed from the spit and was pleasantly surprised by how much flat water there is. A few big patches in Kev's bay are quite good for 10 sec bearaways.

Tried one NM and it was a bit bumpy in places but had a big lull in the middel. Pretty pleased with it though.Smile

Rapt with the Alpha!. I found a flat patch and hit it hard on the peak of the wind. (25 knots?) IS80, Nuclear 20cm, 2022 KA Race 5.7m. That has to be a top 5 for me? Undecided

The Fin worked really well under great lateral pressure with top speed, just over 32 knots on a beam reach. Thats about as fast I I can go on that angle!

It was a good oppurtunity to do some sail tuning and fin comparisons for the first half. I came in and changed the sail. Got an extra 2 knots off the wind and also upwind. There might have been a slight increase in the wind, but I think I have got pretty close to the sweet spot for the new 5.7m. it vsets a bit looser in the top than the 2021 model with the samed epth down low. Feels nice.

I compared the Nuclear 20cm with the Tectonics Speed-Weed 21cm. Both had the same top speeds, but the Nuclear was noticably safer in the chop, working upwind and when pushing really hard on a beam reach for Alphas. The Centre of resistance/lift is a bit further forward on the Tectocics, which is eaier to balance the board and rig with, but I can cope with the Nuclear. I would like it to be set firther forward in the box though.  I like them both a lot, but the holding tenacity of the Nuclear suits me and this combo just a little bit better.

When the wind had seemed to pick up a bit, I went in and got the Mistral 47cm speed with 19cm Tribal Weedspeed. But that when the cloud came over and the wind eased off so I didn't go any faster. Same peaks speeds.

IS80, 2022 5.7m KA Race (Speed). Atomic Nuclear20cm, and then Techtonics WeedSpeed 21cm. Then M47 with Trbal 19cm Weedspeed.
