Mission accomplished, 23 knot hour and 30 knot NM. Yeehaa!

Headed east where the river is wide and the air is hot. Wind filled in nicely and found some inner RooDaBeast to launch it. Animal mode engaged and it was on, bitching Betty was belting out the numbers and first nm was over the magic 30 knots, a first in the Gorge.

Kept the hammer down and went for an hour and nailed it. Another 2 PB's, what a week! Back on top of the US rankings, first in 3 categories and we are only half way through summer. http://www.gpsteamchallenge.com.au/rankings/individual?country=3&year=2017&month=&state=&team=&age_division=&min_age=&max_age=&gender=

Can't wait to get back out there, will be easy to nail a 32 knot NM, it's pretty choppy with big ground swell but when everything lines up it's full on. Found some nice weed, not the wacky backy type, but the chop smoothing stuff and nailed some 23 knot alphas. On the smaller gear I reckon I can pop a 26 in there, now I have a rough idea what Lake George is like! Also found a nice spot on the drive home for some 40 knot runs, itching to try that as well.

Roo, congratulations!!! 4 PBs in a week, they are falling like Dominos Laughing

I am happy for you that your 'animal mode' fire is burning brightly although I suspect it means we will be 'passing in the night' once again. You sail Waterfront Park, I choose a 'training lake' to get prepared. I decide to 'man up, a little' and head to the Gorge, and you head East for 'animal mode' sailing... No problem, we still have GPSTC Laughing.

BTW, today I supplemented my light gusty wind equipment list - will be picking up the Goya Bolt 135 liter tomorrow. Should work great for me on those 'not quite' wind days at Waterfront and Floras (12G18 knot days) so now I can get on the water instead of wind whining on the beach Laughing.

Don't worry Barton, the animal is now well fed and back in cruiser mode. Will be hanging out around Waterfront Park as Julian and Roberta want to get out windsurfing. I'm good now until the fall when the beast is unleashed yet again!

Roo, thanks! Will be good to see Roberta and Julian again Smile

I'll be driving up tomorrow morning and spending some time at Big Winds. Should be at Waterfront sometime in the PM.

Wow, it must be "Triple Crown", great job Roo, congratulations!

The wind should be really steady there if you could get NM only 2 knots slower than Max Speed and 1 knot slower than 5x10.

Four PBs in one week, can I see your doping test results?Wink

I'd fail the test, I'm one big dope! Very observant on the number analysis, my 2 sec peak was on my best nm run, as was my best 10 sec as well. I had a max of 33.590 and a low of 27.292 so it was a bit gusty over the run. You can download the track on KA72.com if you want a closer look.

Yeah, 6 knots difference makes it look a bit gusty. I was breaking down my NM from today and it has about the same spread about 32-26, I got 29 for that run mostly because I ran out of gust in the end. Hopefully, we'll get some stronger winds someday, would be nice to try it again on a smaller gear.

Great PBs Roo in the chop, congratulations.  Where is the 40 knot spot?   In the early stages of planning another gorge trip in July 2018 Cool

Thanks for the well wishes everyone, still pretty jazzed up a day later. Never really chased numbers before so this was a fun mission. I'm so lucky to live in a location with such a great range of conditions that I never really have to travel far to get a good session. Had a look in the mirror Boris and I seem to have some jet packs attached to my back!

Thanks Al, must be something the the water.

GroundRoo day mate! It's the Gorge Fangy...anyone can get a PB here, it never stops blowing. You just have to find the right spot, hundreds of miles of river to chose from.

James here's the spot for some nice 40 knot runs. It's just east of Maryhill so you have to sail across the river to get to it. Dale Cook did some 39 knot runs here back in 2005 but it hasn't really been sailed since. With the current gear we have it should be good for 40 knots easily.
