Lyttelton Harbour, Supercross 97, NCX, WEll lit up, wind was pretty consistent.  Decided to change down and try the Slalam board at end as I saw a couple of holes in my  sail that need some attention.  Mistake as that board needs to be powered, so did a final run on the supercross.  Didn't want to quit as there was still wind but the body said NO MORE.

Christchurch Estuary, NZ ..Sailing from Beachville Road, in the hope of evading the seagrass, my impression now is that it might be washing in from the sea. Anyway it's allover the estuary. Several times I was set up on a nice looking nautical mile, but every time I was finding lanes of the grass and every time I was collecting it.

Lyttelton Harbour, NZ

A little underpowered on the 7. Outgoing tide.

Started on the harbour and ended on the estuary. Harbour always seems the fastest. Maybe the estuary weed is the problem. Same gear all day. FF 79, LRB 6.3, C3 34

Hey Pete, I was sailing a little bit further down the estuary, from Sandy Pt to the causeway blue buoy and it was clear of weed.

Even so, I just made a 36cm weedy for next week.

Imagine those poor buggers in Oz, always having to sail in this rubbish?

I'd move to NZ pronto!

Hey Mike,  yeah if you dont like weed ,dont come down to lg  lol!!  sometimes work in our favor, nice and smooth, other times its deadly.

have you guys tried "tribal weed speeds"  or the more aggressive what we need here at this time of year "deltas"?

It will be interesting to see how your new fin goes through the weed Mike, ..seems like there's a possibility it might be faster as well, synonymous with swept wing aircraft versus straight.

I won't be in a hurry to sail from Beachville Road again, got both my sail and fin roughed up quite a bit yesterday. The water looks innocuous, but only a couple of metres out there is a strong tidal flow. I was caught unawares launching in seemingly idyllic conditions and suddenly my sail got sucked down into contact with the rocks, and it was a hell of a job getting it back out again.
