5249 days ago What was I thinking. I was meant to be working but I managed to stash one board and rig on the truck before I left Perth. Thought it would be a good idea to try and sail the sand bank in Albany harbour. First problem was there was no where to launch except for the off shore side of the bay underneath the hills. So a long walk out to get a gust. Thats when I realised the water was freezing.
Got going but had no idea how deep it was over the sand bank. Held my breathe several times as it started looking very shallow. ( It was low tide aswell.) Wind was very gusty and swinging all over the place. Only did 2 runs before the wind swung again and dropped so I spent the 30min swimming and walking back to the shore.
Actually a bit surprised with the figures. The Nm had a min speed of 23.6 and I only did one plannng gybe.
The spot has potential but it needs to be warmer and would be good if someone else was out.
