Hi Guys,

Thanks, getting a bit worried there with the lack of wind for nearly a month.I don't get excited until I see a strong wind warning. It finally turned it on. Sailed with "Ads".He's a member of the Cockroaches. Pretty sure I smoked his best 2 sec. Peak. We'll see when he posts.

Hi Gabe,

You did smoke Ads. He said there is a new speed strip at Smiths lake due to the opening of the lake. Might be worth your guys checking it out.Cool

Hi Mark, Yeah I know about that one. That's our "GO TO" spot on Easterlies and Sou'easterlies ,when the water is IN the lake.I think that the change went through early this morning, so most of the wind will have gone, but I'll check it out.

About 2 years ago, I sailed with Matt K and Aaron on a low water level and managed a 33.3k 2 sec. peak then.A very short run on the western shore of Smith's behind a sandbar. Good fun nevertheless.Hoping for more wind this weekend. Cheers.A shot of Matt K at Smith's "3 years ago"!

Hi Gabe,

Thats an awesome Picture. Will have to come down & have a sail with you guys one weekend it is working at Smiths Lake!

Yeah, it's pretty good when it's on.Short runs though.I got a call from Adam (Ads) this morning and he told me he got a sail in late yesterday, and managed a 31k 2 sec peak at the Smith's speed strip. He said it was very OFF and ON.I'm hoping to get on water this arvo if this wind fills in a bit more. her's another shot of the spot . This time it's Aaron.(On a 6.5)Another of Matt K too.(6.5)

The only thing with the spot is, the sand bar is tide dependant and the lake has to be empty as it is now, with a SE wind. Eventually the lake fills in and the spot disappears, but the other side starts to work. This side best on East or ESE to SE.

I'm going through all these old postings during this horrible calm spell and remember the day those photos were taken was an awesome day.  I know Aaron got a peak speed of 37kts and I got a peak speed of 35kts on my old etrex gps.  I haven't seen these yet, great shots Gabe

Hi Matt,

noticed your post.As there's so little happening, just had to see what everyone else was up to!Yes that was a good day!!I'll have to see if there's any more photos you'd like a copy of.Next time your free drop over and we'll check it out.

I've just ordered two Black project weed speed fins for Chris for her new boards.A 38 and a 34. Their sizing is a bit confusing, but apparently they (BP)have updated the web page info and Gareth sorted the confusion.Their prices just went up today by $15 per fin.You on for Sunday?

Oooh Yeaa!  Got sunday off, hope the forecast stays good but we'll have to keep an eye on it.  I've got Friday, Sunday and Wednesday off work and the longrange forecast on windguru is also showing Wednesday might be good but that will most likley change.

Hi Gabe. I'm thinking of heading down your way on Sun to make the most of the long weekend. Do you have any hot tips for good spots? Any advice greatly appreciated! :-)

Hi Nicole,

We wil probably be at the great lakes sailing club in a souwester.  It's a great spot in all directions of wind except anything with east in it.  If you have any weed fins, make sure you bring those.  To get there follow the main road south of the township of Forster for about 5 min, past the Green Point turnoff, when you see a sign to camp elim, the sailing club is about 300mt past camp elim

Hi Matt and Nicole, and the Team.

                         Happy Easter!!

Nicole, yeah, what Matt said's right, you will really need a weedie. It's just too frustrating without one, though it can be done without, on certain days, when the wind blows from the same direction for a few days to shift it.Ideal wind directions tend to be straight South for flat water to Southwest and S/S East and west for more "bump and jump" conditions if really windy. We're still exploring 'secret' flat water spots on certain wind directions, but weedie is a must to make the most of it.

I just checked the forecast and of course it's changed again!!! It now looks like being from late Mon. and the pick being Tues. with less wind for the rest of the week. If you have a few days off, it would be woth hanging around.Bring a surfboard as the surf's been great lateley too. There will probably be a few sailors around if the wind makes a show.Hope we catch up.

Here's a couple of photos of the sailing club on a westerly three years ago during that dust storm.

That's Matt with the yellow Bic and Me with the white Fanatic.

Thanks very much Gabe! Those dust storm pics are amazing! Very disappointed with forecast. Though shouldn't be surprised anymore! Hope to check out your local spots in a southerly soon if not this weekend. Happy Easter :-)

Hi Mark and Nicole,

I'd imagine that everyone's hanging out for a session. We've all got gear we're dying to try out too.I guess at this time of year we shouldn't expect too much.

At least I've been getting some good surfing in to make up.Good luck everyone for the next session. In the mean time here's a shot of Aaron, getting some awesome airtime on that same day.Wind was about 30k plus.

Great Pics Gabe! You & Aaron must have been sailing close to the shore to get those photos. NICE air guys.Cool

(Where is the wind????????? Might have to bite the bullet go for a sail with my big gear & just get wet.)

A friend of Aarons took those with a long lens and a decent camera. It was very hard to hold down a 4.2 and you couldn't help but get air.Aaron was on a 5.0, and Matt on a 3.7.

Yeah this waiting is a pain. I reckon it will be late in the day if that pre-frontal trough shows up. I'm ready!!
