Windsurfing: felixstowe-Dip
Wind Direction: NE
Wind Stength: 10-14
Surf / Sea State: small chop n flat areas
Air Temperature: 8.5
Sea Temperature: 9.4
Weather: cloud
Max Speed: 22.3 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 25.8 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

Al and Mark flying on flat water so rigged 118l/8.5m at 12:45. Sea a bit choppy but quite nice. Much flatter over by Golf and by the time I made my way there wind had dropped a bit. Still planing nicely, then it went flat every where except as far as red and white buoy where choppy. Nice runs back and forth.
Board feels like it has plenty of gas but maybe sail not delivering. Loosened sail it captured power better. Al and Mark D out,Mersea visitor on 6m and Swainey. As I left wind was still up, though looking so flat didn't look like any. Far out plenty of white horses and presumably wind.

Saturday 5th May 2012 - windsurfing **** sunny periods

Mag and I did exercises on the beach before breakfast.  We went for a long walk on the beach and were amazed at the lengths people (mainly kite surfers) had gone to get their little piece of this massive beach.  They must have driven through quite deep water to get to some of the places.  We even saw a camp of 3 or 4 vans and cars parked on a tiny little spit of sand out into the sea.  They are more trusting of the sea than us!  There is another little shanty town down that way and also some men constructing what looked like a rough snack bar for the kiters. The wind had picked up by the time we got back to the van but still not enough to use my shortboard so went out on the longboard again.Today there were about 6 windsurfers against 50+ kites!!! But at least the sun was trying today and we had some good spells of sunshine :) I fitted my smaller fin the 34cm to cope with the shallow water and see if I could gain a couple of knots, sadly it fell out of my board in the middle of the bay after about an hour:( so that’s 2 fins gone and I now haven’t got a fin for my 100lt. board and I also haven’t got a small fin for the longboard for going fast at Gruissan and La Franqui:( better find a windsurf shop soon – if they still exist???  I came in to put the 40 cm fin in and for lunch and then went out again for another hour+ reaching at least a couple of miles out into the bay :) Back at the van at 6ish made a drink and sat in the sun reading at the back of our van. After tea went for a walk to take some sunset pics loads of campers here now as it’s another French holiday weekend but I think I have had enough of windsurfing here so will head off in the morning in search of a shop as running short of supplies!!!
