Lake Illawarra, NSW, AU

Falcon 121, OD 7.8, 39 tribal weedie

the breeze looked light when I arrived at the sailing club this morning, but others were doing nicely on big gear, so rigged up the 7.8 and hit the water. Then the wind turned up a few notches and it was the most powered up Ive ever been on the 7.8. I was waiting for the scared feeling to sink in, but instead I got a happy feeling as the board just took it in its stride, settled down and took me on great long runs across the lake to island and back. Only 2nd ride on the 121 falcon, its a beauty, had the mast foot further forward tgis time, and it glided over the chop like a magic carpet. The raceboard fleet arrived and feeling inspired by speedster Matt's 83 ks yesterday, I kept going to see if I could do it. Had a couple of breaks for water, need to get a water back pack for next time I try this. Happy day.

Great hr + distance Dezza! I'm tired just thinking of it. I've heard  people saying about the boards glding over the chop but I don't think I've ever experienced it.. Sounds great! Maybe I should try putting the mastfoot forward on my falcon..

Wow... congrats Dezza. Great distance and nice hour. Good to hear you stuck with the 7.8... impressive for a little lady to hang onto such a big sail. You'll be able to do that with your 99 and easily crack 30 soon.

Keef, I know rule number one in the Gustbusters is not to have sail bigger than the captains. And any girl with a sail bigger than the Captain has rigged, must leave the water immediately. There will not be an 8.6 for me Embarassed

how on earth did I rig sails without a winch!

looks like we mite have a new kaptain DezzaLaughing my biggest sail is a 7.2 , arky's biggest sail is a 4.4 so that rules him outLaughing it also takes balls to rig the biggest sail Smile, the meeting is set for next month i'm counting on you being thereWink

Nigel Dezza is powerfull ,she's been rigging her 7.8 without a winch Laughing well untill 2 months ago when she needed that extra 5mm of downhaul Smile my guess is she has a 8.6 on order for those really light days Smile
