Lunny (42007km): Melville Beach, WA, AU Desperation Sail. Makes me appreciate the feeling of getting on the plane on days with light wind. Feels like the learning phase all over again....wooohhooo I'm Planing! M137, NP RSR2 8.6, Tectonics Talon 50
Boz (39142km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU Was all set to go to Cervantes but wind prediction changed this morning, really did not think I would get wet today so went for a road trip to check out a few spots in mandurah. Poped into Liptons and though might as well get wet, was prepared for a bit of a light wind tacking but wind came in about 15kn so pulled out the AB 54 to give it a go. Suprisingly good considering I only had the 6.3 sail on the AB, can't wait to see what it can do when the wind does kick in. AB+54, KAR6.3, Vector 28
Windxtasy (13853km): Melville Beach, WA, AU iS111, 40 LE weedy 7.5 T4 The seabreeze graph suggested there was just enough wind but my windmeter on the beach said 10 knots and that was more like it. I tried lots of tuning changes today but it didn't change the fact that there wasn't enough wind. There were just enough gusts to entice me to stay out a bit longer but I would have come in a lot sooner if I had been able to get back upwind quicker. Very marginal conditions plus weed fin did not help, nor did my dementia, as I realised when I got back to the car that I had a pointer in the same size. The water was plenty deep enough to have used it safely too. I sailed for two hours aside from brief stops to change tuning so a total distance of less than 20 km is a bit disappointing. It was warmish and sunny at least, and the river water has cleared enough to see to the bottom. Quite a few small stingrays about today. It was good to catch up with Craig, and Andrew, who did not sail, but popped in for a chat.
Kenny (16394km): Pelican Point, WA, AU Went out on the 115 board and was sailing upwind when I snapped a footstrap screw on a gybe near Jo Jo's. Went back in to get a new screw but isntead decided to try out the 97 board as the wind seemed to be getting stronger. Went out and grovelled around downwind, even with the big weedy as the wind dropped. Walk of shame back in and was going to pack up and leave when the wind got back up over 15 knots. Went back out on the 115 board plus new screw and sailed upwind to majestics a couple of times. I can safely say i made the most of the light wind today. 7.5 Koncept, 115 isonic, 97 futura, 43 volt, 38 vector weedy
Hooksey (2406km): Dutchies. At first it was light but it came through and it turned out to be a great day wiht heaps of dolphines out the back. Good to catch-up with JJ, Mark, Steve, Rowan, Windforce Stephan etc. 8.6 Racingblade, 46cm CL, 135l Patrik Cottesloe, WA, AU |
