2470 days ago Surprise wind at Kalmus. After two days where the wind disappeared as soon as we hit the water, I stopped hoping for it to build, and started on the longboard. Not surprisingly, the SB 7.8 is not a great longboard sail, at least not if rigged anywhere close to specs - it's ok going off the wind, but not that great going upwind. But the wind picked up to 16 knots and stayed there, so switched to the slalom board. Was a bit underfinned on the TWD 33, but played it safe around low tide - more fun closer to shore. Sailed up to the Kennedy Slicks, but way too many boats there; also too many boats in the shipping lane for an Egg Island excursion (plus marginal wind and low tide probably would not have worked there, anyway).
