Gusty is an understatement, maybe? I looked at the wind chart - all over the map with a lot of range between lulls and gusts... So, you slog out past Wells Island into the channel?

Didn't slog, timed the gust perfectly. No one else on the water, even the kiters were beachbound. Sailed all the gusts and had a ball, even went down to the event site for a chat then caught the gust back up to the hook to take Roberta windsurfing.

Roo, thanks for posting your tracks. I've never launched from the Hook so was curious how you made it past Wells Island wind shadow. Looks like there was a big southerly component to the wind?

Huge southerly cant, windy on the inside at the Hook but nothing to launch at waterfront park or event site.
