sboardcrazy (24418km): Coal Pt 5-17kts patchy ESE—E 7m NCX—RS4 ( 11ltres) - 36cm drake fin 7.5m GT turbo—39cms C3 Sting After being out with injuries I’m keen to get back into the chop .I bought the RS4 and 7.5m for 10-15kts Lake Macquarie chop today was the first test in a seabreeze off Coal . I got 18kts gusts with the meter off the jetty so I rigged the 7m. One underpowered run and I changed to the 7.5m and bigger fin. I did get one puff that let me see how that combo went and I think it will be great! I thought I’d see how the combo went with pointers as I usually use weedies . I was nervous as I know once it hits 15kts the board rail rides badly with the big fin and it had been gusting over that. Patchy with some mogully boat wake to spice things up. Note to self—don’t do gybes in a lull in the worst of the moguls.. There were some nice longer 15kt patches over west of the point and I had some lovely runs. I just need to get used to the kit and get my confidence. I was surprised at how user friendly it was! The board just floats over the chop and even subplaning when the nose dived 1’ under a cruiser wake it just popped up again! Love the feel of it with a pointer although I had to stop occasionally to let a bit of weed drop off. My heart palps have been a bit more of an issue lately switching on when I walk up hills etc. Usually when they happen I just stop and sit and they will switch back off after about 5 mins. If I ignore them and keep doing stuff I’ve had them go for 5hrs before they switch off and they are very debilitating. They switched on in the middle of Belmont Bay but I had to sail back in including some powered up bits through cross cruiser wake. I was silly and washed the gear before I sat to let them get under control and by now they were really bad and I couldn’t do anything.. I just lay there waiting for them to go but decided maybe I should get the ambulance so they could get a reading and check me out while they were bad. Thanks to Andrew and Nicole and the neighbours for their help ( even if Andrew did use the drone to take my pic..lol’s). Left the van at Andrews and to emergency.. Home at 2am..zz . Medical merry go round coming up with GP’s and cardiologists.. This was just the push I needed. Now it’s affecting my bushwalking and sailboarding hopefully I can get it fixed! Seems like I’m destined not to sail chop much at the moment Bugger...
