Had the swimming pool all to myself.   Yesterday had a great couple of hours of nice, thick wind - rigged my 6.5 and had a blast on the Atomiq 120 and a nice high tide meant I didn't have to skull drag the gear out.  7.2m Hornet is out of action at present after a blow out in the bottom section near the mast where the dyneema and the laminate parted ways - might be able to score a replacement V8 2018....  So at the moment things are split between ALL and NoTHing when it comes to sail choice.  So today I went down to play again, and wind was much lighter.  Took a punt and rigged the North S Type 7.8m on Atomiq and my new weed fin - which I totally love - very progressive - easy to transition to the plane and now I can drive straight through weed.

Spent the first 30 minutes wondering if I was wasting my time... then the wind came - a solid 18knots and the fun began.  Had a good hour or so - the lack of wind earlier kept the water nice and flat.  Mostly SSE but I enjoyed myself.  My mate Ed had begged off due to family duties and - unfortunately he missed a good session.  I have been really lucky so far as most of my sessions have involved dealing with more wind than required to get planing - rather than less wind.  Here's hoping the trend will continue.

Cool

Dave. I can't believe you still have a Windtech from the 90s when I was sailing Alva. Mind you, I still have a mint 1992 Caveman stuck in the shed roof.

Great speeds.... as can be expected.

Good one guys. Yer Andrew glad to see you have had a good start to the session. That GPS cable you gave me fixed the problem can charge GPS again. Which means it won't get smashed against the wall like my last one..So I guess that's a good thing.😃 ..thanks mate...Hey Dave welcome to the FNQ mob. 'May the force be with you.'cheers Ed.

Troy, still have 3 of my old Windtech's (2 slalom, 1 twin fin wave)from back then. Wouldn't mind trying one of the new ones with the adjustable trim plate. Bit weird sailing with over a metre of board in front of the mast track, had been out on my slingshot foil board the day before and it only has 500mm in front of the mast base.

Would that be John Lassig's caveman?

Sure is Dave. He finally donated it to me through lack of use.

I tend to avoid sailing the bad mannered 90s boards in the Mackay chop. Need to keep my knees operational...
