Andrew Haigh (48982km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU Isonic 90 with 6.2m 10-20 kts SSW Got down to Buffo at 7.30 but Andrew B was already out standing on the weed banks. Very cold day and not enough wind to keep me out there for long. Good to see Tony Polony who was super keen but Budgie didn't really deliver today.
I put the Coords of Ricks Rib braking crash into my watch today and checked out the area with a view to marking it. There was not any thing solid in the area, but there where several weed patches that were so thick that you could almost walk on them. They would be impossible to sail through. twigs tend to stick to these clumps and form practically solid barriers. This area is super shallow at the moment and the bottom is quite hard sand not nice soft mud. TAKE EXTREME CARE IN THIS AREA.
sboardcrazy (24418km): 10-22kts SSw - S Buff Pt Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU 6.2m OD- 87ltre iso - 21.5cm FF I left the GPS on in the car for a km but all the speeds are on the water so I've taken 1km off the distance.. Very unenthusing when I arrived at 8.30 finally hit the water at 10am after a squall had gone through. Only a short session as I had to leave at 11.30. Figured I'd go for fun rather than glory so put a small sail on the big board with a largish fin. It actuall;y wasn't too bad although I worked upwind into deeper water and mostly avoided the shallow flats . Weedberg alley was scary..I managed a few ok gybes , then a few where I ended up sitting on a weedberg after the flip and sailing off. I then ate mud after scoring an nice big one on the exit and I decided not to gybe in there any more.. My look at the exit gybe style isn't good in weedberg territory..I give a quick scan as I enter then look at the exit and cross fingers and toes that I don't score any..I may have to see if I can gybe while looking for bergs.. Last few sails I haven't been able to see through my sail windows due to salt so I washed them all and treated the window and they're like new! You can all breath a sigh of relief as I can at least see you if I check before gybing or bearing off.. Good to see Tony W although Budgy didn't give him a very good day. I hope you had some bigger gear Tony! Andrew x 2 , Lyd's , Jeff , Rod , Byron , and assorted others..Felt like it got a lot colder in the afternoon... brr
Byron Mcilveen (63644km): Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU sail before work light but enjoyable.
