Cowell Entance, SA, AU

OES Outlaw 105, NCX 7m, WIND NW 5-45 kts with dust, rain, hail a couple of decent 20kt runs

That sail had it all. There was wind. Rigged up. Wind dropped. Wind picked up. Had a run up and back. Adjusted something and looked around. A full white out heading my way and a long way from my car. 40-45kts then the dust hit then the rain with some harder colder bits in it. Then the wind was up and down so I got a bit more sailing in.

It was good to go and check this spot in that wind direction. Be good with a bit more west in the wind and get up it the shallow bay a bit further.

Just the usual obstacles around the place. Tapeweed and a few Razor fish. 4WD required to get there.

Good to see you are trying new spots PK.

Have you had a look at the bay on the southern side of Cowell on the way down to Port Gibbon via the dirt road.

Hey Jacko,

Sailing down the Nth side of the spit should be good in a SB.

I have had a look around. No good access from the Eastern side and the Western side has flat rock all around the edges of the bay and out into the water. Finding somewhere nice to rig and not kick your toes on the way out is the trouble.

I might drag the boat up one day and grab some crabs in the morning and have a look around from the water side.

But between Lucky Bay and the entrance most wind directions are cover with reasonably flat water.

On the spit in the above shot there is a shallow channel next to the shoreline that might be good at the right tide and SW-WSW wind.
