Another FUN day at the weedy lake.
I launched at the 5 Mile but sailed down to the spit immediatly. I had rigged my 5.2m Koncept and got out the speed board, but just before i went out I decided that it didnt look quite that windy, so I took the JP70/54cm slalom instead. It was the right thing at the time as I was slightly underpowered. Had a nice downwind run the the spit looking for the weedy falt bits, but none jumped out and grabbed me so I kept going right to The Spit. there I found a likely bunch of characters havinf a blast in the section of nice flat water behind the spit.
had a bit of fun there without going much over 37 for a while. Then the wind kicked and suddenly I was getting a little bit faster every run. I kept hanging on with the aim to crack a 40 on the JP which I had not done before. Now I really wanted the speed board. Georgio very kindly offered me a couple of runs on his Partck 48cm speed and it felt great wth a peak of 39. Then, back on the JP, I I finally got a 40 peak on the GW screens but not a 2 sec. That was the last straw, so I pounded back up to the 5 mile for mt speed board. I talked Kempster into going back with me and we drove around and rigged again.
I did slightly better speeds than earlier but still no 2 second 40. It seemed like the wind had peaked while I was away.
After all that it was just a great fun day on the small gear and with great company.
JP54 slalom, Tribal Weedspeed 21cm/CA40, 17cm. 2019 KA Koncept 5.2m Speed. GW-52 (yes, I cut out the drive. )
