Got to Love that.....Unknown Location LaughingLaughing

Early start (5.30) picked up Kempster and off we went to meet a boat....or two Wink

Arrived at  AAAAAAA , Gary was there already with Daffy and Matt not far behind, took at bit to load everything into the boats and get them onto the water. Daffy hit the water first and left as we had decided to add two speedboards to the load. Although we had all looked at the map we didn't know excatly where we were going. Pit Crew navigation at its best Tongue out. Captin Gary took us out to sea and we scoped out some great spots for latter. This spot has some great potential.

Found our spot with the rest and rigged big. BTW Kempster, did we mention sharks !!! Surprised Some really big ones with lots of babies.

Sailed for a good few hrs but the spot didnt really work for me as a speed spot so I was doing long runs across the channel chasing swell lines. Great fun and no crashes.

Looked at a few more places before the long trip back. Not a bad first contact with this spot, lots for interesting places to play with next time Tongue outTongue out

A Big thanks to Gary ,Chappy (Team Dog) and Daffy for the water taxi

'Shark Bait' Run - Port Albert Channel, Vic.

A big adventure today that we had been planning for quite a while and it finally came together. 2 boats, Six people, 4 sailors.

I wanted to check out the Nautical Mile run at this spot and we thought it would need an Easterly. As it happens, that is correct, but we had a North Easterly and that run was just too broad and choppy. What we did establish though, is that it should fire big time on a true easterly! Tongue out

So we sailed the next bank south just inside the entrance.

Here the wind was almost square, perhaps 10-15 degree biased at best. There was a nice little curve in the bank right at the entrance though which had a bit more steady wind and super flat water on Starboard tack.

We started in only 15-18 knots of wind, but it gradually built to 20-22kts with a few 25 gusts by the time the tide changed.

When the tide changed it got pressure waves and rolling waves from the sea on it, so this is a ebb tide spot only I think.

It's a great spot to just blast up and down in a NE wind, but would probably be a bit bumpier in 30 knots as it has a gradual sloping bank, making you run about 15m from the sand.

The name?

This is the heartland of the Corner Inlet Great White spawning grounds! Surprised  Not many gybes were missed today. Laughing

I could not sail due to Sciatica, so I put test GPS's - including the new Motion GPS - on one of the others. It didnt really bother me as it was great fun to watch and film, and quite an adventure as well. Laughing

Here is a trackmap from one of the Pit Crew and another map showing the location, Top centre of the second map is Port Albert. The NM run is directly NE of where we sailed and finishes where we were starting.

'Shark Bait' access: The yellow path is 6km, so about 8km to Shark Bait. The red line is the Easterly Wind NM run.

Pics and videos to follow: Smile

According to CSIRO after extensive research and taging in Port Albert the juvenile Whites are only 1.5 metres long, should not have to worry to much about them. Its the Mummas we should be worried about!. Did you really have a sore back Daffy?????????.
