AlfaMale (18525km):
1797 days ago After waiting and waiting, I finally made the decision to head out to Kurnell, and try some light wind foiling again.
Most of the time the wind was 6-16kts, but there were 4kt periods, and gusts about 17 according to the airport chart on SeaBreeze.
AFS105 with 1000 wing, 9.3 Maui Sails and Foil147 starboard (light wind slalom really).
Lessons for the day:
- Take a drive, the water might have more wind than the land.
- Set the mast base further BACK! Less body twist is much more comfortable.
- Use Mast pressure on the nose. The mast is a lot further forward than your foot!
- Timing the rig flip is hard on big sails. Too soon and it pushes you around. Too late and it backwinds.
- In the 4kt lulls, the lesson was pumping a board INTO the water does not help.
- My inner ear needs a reset. A few 8kt lulls I was waiting for the gust (a few hundred metres away) then I realised, I DON'T NEED TO WAIT!
- Kurnell is much cleaner than Kyeemagh
Tired now, but worth effort!
