sboardcrazy (24418km): 5-12kts ESE-SE with good patch 10-15kts then nothing. Then 30mins consistent 18-20kts plus SE Coal Point, NSW, AU 7.5m GT Turbo- Rs4 ( 111ltres) - 39cm C 3 sting pointer Well that was great! Ok some was crap but the good outweighed the bad.. Started out lightish but more consistent than yesterday- not quite enough to get going then struck a good 15kts SE odd run towards Wangi. Yelling with the fun of powered sailing in a consistent seabreeze type wind in sunshine in midwinter.. Bit crappy trying to work up above the point as it was patchy and I didn't want to lose any upwind by bearing off in the short gusts. The wind turned more E and died so I decided to go to the sand islands for a rest. Ended up wobbling along in 3kts of wind. I gave up and sat on the board for a drink. I could see rain coming through and figured I better get back in with any wind before it died totally. Then it came in a consistent 18-20kts plus! On the top end of that gear so I was in semi survival stance. The water was pretty flat . Only me and a dinghy who I lost sight of in the strong stuff. Got back in and changed clew holes and then back out. Of course it was starting to die by then so I went into the point to change it back and then spent ages floundering around in the rocks trying to uphaul without running aground. I came in all excited for the next good patch and rigged the 7m ready for the next rain band.. Of course the next one only had 5kts with it so I packed away and went home. Felt like a summer session and it was even pretty mild. It said 16 degrees but it didn't feel that bad, maybe because of the high humidity? It would have been nice to have some company or someone to talk to.. |
