kato (37520km): Inverloch, VIC, AU A quick blast after work. Should have rigged the 5.8 as it didn't look that windy. No other punters out. More play time tomorrow Sl53, Venom 30,Koncept 6.6 | ||||||||||||||||||
Sailquik (29582km): Sandy Point, Vic. I was on my way to Inverloch late arvo for a sail with Kato and the other deperados. Called Postie to get a report and he said "it's no good, the tide's come in and no real banks. Turn around and go back'. Great advice as it turns out as I found another sailor at Sandy and it was pretty excellent untill a squall came and blew us off the water. It looked around 15-20 knots and very SW. Perfect for a blast on the slalom board with a 6.2m. When I got out there I was very nicely powered uo and had some great runs all the way to the Red channel marker - a lot further than we normally run. Easy to sail back up in the cannel and chop, but the wind stadily increased and after a few runs I was definitly overdone with both board, fin and sail! The last run back upwind I was really struggling and when I pulled into the bank the wind kicked up another notch. Now gusting over 30. It would have been perfect on the speed board and a 5m sail! No way was I going to enjoy sailing on what I had and it looked like it had set in for a while so I walked back and called it a day. Great fun!
The forecast for tomorrow afternoon is much stornger so I am expecting 35-40+ knots. The only issue is that it won't turn WSW intill a couple of hours before sunset, so it looks like a late session with small sails. 2007 IS87, Tribal WeedSpeed 27cm, 2018 6.2m kA Koncept. GW60 GPS.
