It was what it was. Very southerly. Next to no wind in the mud patch and when there was, it was 15 to nothing - again , lots of dredging this afternoon which was quite dispointing.
Ventured out wide, some 4 km's offshore to try and find some of the incoming southerly, and I found it. Bollocks, it was survival mode. 20 solid knots and as rough as guts - didn't hang out there for to long. Shame, but it just hung out wide and it took forever to get back the parking lot. Got a few good planing runs in.
Used: Motion, 7.8 OD M2, WT72, WT43 - Could have been worse !!!

1473 days ago 1 categories Port Douglas, QLD, AU..arvo sail with some of the locals..Andrew, Rick, Simmi, and the new guy Mark. Was a good breeze blowing when i got there and the universe told me to rig no cam 7m to go on 105 Fox but unfortunately it got trashed last sail and i have been to slack to get the sail tape out and patch up blowen out pannel..Had to rig fully pumped 6.5m turbo and use every bit of power it had. Wasted a bit of time tuning it up had to do all the things i hate doing like having not to much down haul and even moved the mast foward a bit which realy sucked, but some times you just have to do it..Was heaps of sea weed in close on the flat water so once i got tuned up i spent the whole time out in the big pool which got quiet rough..Everyone seemed to have a good session dodging sea weed. Think Andrew did one run and went and got a weed fin.. Most players went home happy. Cheers Ed..

Well, what a beautiful day! Shared the sunny afternoon with my Boss, Ed - Rick came down for a sail too. Simmy turned up for a spin - and new man, Mark, dusted off his old rig for a blast that was twenty years in the making. Still tuning my 120 Fox and dreaming of my140 Fox. Footstraps out to the rail and full forward. Had some great runs - after the session I moved them to the middle setting on the rail. Brought my newly refurbished 133 isonic as well. - I'm a bit skinny on the sail department at the moment with my 6.6 and 7.8 in for much needed repairs. So I flipped the 7.2 V8 between the two boards. It was kind of frustrating because at times the wind was neither here or there. Still, like I said - I was focused on tuning the Fox. I thought I might have gone further but I was nonetheless blissing out on the wind, the water, and my mates all out there. Just great fun.
