Andrew Haigh (48951km): Coal Point, NSW, AU, Westerly 0-18 kts Stingray, Whisperer and 6.5m Pretty good sess with Tony and Sue. Bit of a tour around, some spots had no wind whatsoever. Working on my alphas, but it felt really cold today and wasn't keen on risking falling in | ||||||||||||||||||
sboardcrazy (24391km): Patchy 5-15kts WNW then 10-20kts plus W Coal Point, NSW, AU 7.5m GT Turbo - WT64 - 39cm C3 sting pointer then 7m M2 OD - 36cm Drake fin To think I looked forward to this session all week.. I went out too early and wore myself out in the very patchy conditions. Got a decent patch on the first run out and I thought it was coming in. I decided I needed to flex the tail a bit and move the mastfoot forward. Stopped at Wangi and did it.. of course the bleedin wind decided to go back to 5-12kts.. Stopped at the other end and set it up for light winds.. Not a good day to get used to a new board..It was choppy enough to need to be in the straps but the wind wasn't consistent enough. I was sailing like a sack of spuds in defensive mode. Patches of 30cm triangular cross moguls at times.. It came in pretty strong just as I decided to go in for a rest. Rigged the 7m with a smaller fin and back out. Some of the strong bits were solid 20kts plus and I got going off the wind a bit. The board gave me a scare by rising right up in the air , once it came down the fin spun out..Bit of a confidence dampener.. Went into the shallows and moved the mastfoot further forward ( it was in the middle)..I was a bit nervous.Things were ok after that although I didn't get another evil patch. Maybe too big a fin and the mastfoot too far back..mmm. I know others use a 33cm with that sail and board. I'm still trying to get used to the narrower longer board. The wind wasn't consistent enough to really test things out.. I had the go pro on so hopefully I can see what happened. I wanted to sail till I dropped and I did..zzz hardwork Just me for the first hr odd then foilers Andrew and Tony out later. |
