1366 days ago Kalmus, Cape Cod. Foil session on i84, 5.6, 90 cm. Very lovely and flat at the start, but wind averages doubled to 29 mph with 30 knot gusts at the end. Could not even waterstart anymore in the chop that had suddenly gotten big, the wind just grabbed the board and turned it over, foil and all. Neither did a regular body drag work, same thing happened. Instead, dragged in clew-first from the leeward side for about 400 meter until a small hole in the wind let me waterstart again for a short foil back to the beach. But got 3 foil PBs (2 s, 5x10, alpha (with a tack)), and 3 more top-5 foil entries, so can't complain.
Nina was out with the same foil and a 4.2 m wind the entire time - a bit underpowered for the first 20 minutes in 13 mph, but quite happy after that, even in the 30 knot gusts, which only helped her to keep the speed up in her jibes. Once again amazed at the range of the wings. I was definitely beyond the range of my 5.6 with the i84 at the end!
