Coodanup, WA, AU. Tested 3 prototypes today so lots of stopping to change gear.   Basically 1 success and 2 failures.

First went out on new red rocket 3d printed fin with rotating foresail.  This seemed to work well so came in to remove the foresail and replace with blank action cam module to get some video and data as comparison. Did a couple of laps and was pleased action cam seemed to still be recording at end so then replaced module next in line.

This was the Green machine with free floating canard plus camera to record the carnage.   Had just noticed a few minutes priot an issue before launching with 3rd party part but decided to test anyway.  Got about 50 meters and canard spun perpendicular to flow due to third party fault causing massive spinout/drag.  Turned around, got back to beach to assess to also find $25 "water proof" action cam flooded as well.

Since sunday traffic and had guests coming over, plus had enough info to get to next iteration of all this dribble, called it for today.

Finally got rid of guests and quick look shows underwater action cam recorded zero vids which was a shame as static video tests looked good.   The short amount of data logged showed that the red rocket rotating foresail did around 4 deg better upwind and best speed.  All probably means nothing without pics and since can't post pics here will put something on SB eventually.

Lessons learned: $25 waterproof action cam off Aliexpress is awesome but not waterproof as claimed. Luckily system was designed to allow a real action camera.   Don't rely on third party stuff (in my case a model boat rudder)...next version is all DIY

RRD 102 xFire, KAR7, FF22 Red rocket and Green machine with asymetric add ons.

On those first runs with the green machine, you looked like you were going better than around you, faster and pointing higher. But without having a clue about those around you, not very valuable data.

But enough positive info to warrant further experiments.
