Andrew Haigh (49062km): Coal Point, NSW, AU Stingray 140, Flow 1500 and Naish 5.4 SW 20-25 kts Just Sue and I and of course 10 or so wingers | ||||||||||||||||||
sboardcrazy (24442km): 5-25kts plus W through to SW Coal Point, NSW, AU- Lumpy as 5m Gator - WT57 ( 90ltre) - 24cms WT weedy full tail flex I wasn't very enthused. One minute it was blowing 25kts plus out wide with 200m of 5kts in the launch then it was 10kts , then back again. The waveboard would have been good but as a sinker I wouldn't have been able to get out off the shore in 5-10kts and waves. Challenging and exhausting. The first run was either subplaning trying to stay upright or spilling overpowering wind trying not to go. It was too messy to risk planing with 1m plus crosschops from the varying wind directions . Luckily with that wind direction I could stop at the sand islands for a rest. I didn't risk gybing there as it was too strong over there. It settled a little later so I could occasionally try and get going but you were trying to absorb the ramps or find a rare smoother section . Tried and got 2 gybes , both subplaning. The first I flipped on a windswell ( felt like I was out in the surf ) the second clew first to get up speed before the flip. Both nice and tidy. I'll remember those.. I was in safety mode . The last run in was a bit better although very lumpy and tiring. I decided to quit before I had a heart attack.. av 166 max 192bpm. zzzzz Andrew & I I'm hoping for a more sedate sail tomorrow pm.. |
