River. Easterly

Rigged at Pt Walter. Was windy before I got there so rigged in anticipation for it coming back. Radix 118, omaha 6.5m, 34 MK3. Wind started off pretty light, so figured I'd do something other than trying to go fast downwind for once. Tacked up to Pelican Pt to remind myself there are other places on the river to sail. Was really surprised at how much flatter the water is between Pelican Pt and Majestic Pt. Was a total washing machine back at Pt Walturd. Got my fastest peak (37vmax) heading out from PP past jojos, and a few of my best 10 sec seemed to be out in the middle somewhere. Concerned the wind would drop out completely I started to head back and ended up over at Melville and found myself planing most of the time, unlike PP. Tried a few runs there but not windy enough. Missioned back to Pt Walter and it turned on hard on the way back. Sick downwind runs fully lit... awesome fun. Mental overload navigating the slop at full speed. Got back to PW and saw PD heading out on his 7.4m... he rigged for what he saw and it came in another 8kts when he hit the water. Looked massively overpowered. Did a couple more runs but was impossible to send it in the usual spots because there was a dense school of inflatable jellyfish blocking any path downwind most of the time... aaah how times change. Then my inhaul rope snapped going flat out- and the boom fell off, so I had a swim for a bit and jury rigged it. The chop also seemed way worse than normal today. Full breaking swells everywhere... probably due to tide.  Good fun!

Albany, WA, AU. Arrived a bit late with all the usual suspects out but plan for today was testing hte new 3d printed fin "green machine".   Wind was a little light to start so went out on the bigger board.  Fin was doing well despite complete lack of any smooth but unfortuantley after just a few km hit a rock behind the weedback whilst heading to the NM start.   When reached the top of NM took a look and print was intact but a few cm of the monofilm had peeled away.  Turns out DiChloroMethane doesn't bond to monofilm.  Did the naughty with a 32.4 and fin was rock solid despite the loose flap but by the end the monofilm had further peeled from its slot.  Came in to snip the loose bit off and went out again.  Wasn't quite as solid but trucked around for a bit to get enough data then came in to change the regular Al FF22.  This was sketchy as in the chop and probably the best wind of the day was down the NM but didn't feel solid enough to push it.  Changed to the smaller board with green machine and this was solid as a rock despite the chop growing bigger.   Came in again and in a moment of delusion I changed to the annular 14 fin, unlike last time this was a dog and sliding sideways so couldn't get going.   Seems in needs a min speed to start tracking. So changed again to the regular FF22    This was much more stable but definitely not as in control as wihh the printed so came in again to switch back and rest os session on that.  Purposely smashed the fin in the biggest chop I could find and it never let go.  Fastest speed of the day was 2nd last run.   Was gonna call it but Richo was right behind me, screaming his head off so I assume he got a the good gust too so was motivated to try another run.  Good day.  iSonic 97 and 86, KAR 5.7 with printed FF22 and reg FF22

Moderate wind so tried the 56 and 6.6 which didnt feel too balanced so put on the 5.8 and got a few kts more. Wind came in to what was a choppy Albany so used a weedspeed fin for the first time there on the 52. Felt good and got a few nice runs. Great to share the joy with the usaual suspects. Great to see the young Lucca out with dad Richo too. Welcome Lucca and well done today and yesterday mate.

Albany, WA, AU. Isonic 54 Speed Special, SCR6.3, Tribl Delta 18. Great day at Lilacs with a big crew out. High tide and small chop was washing a bit of speed off. Tried hard to squeeze a 40 out, couldn’t quite make it. Next time!!!

Albany, WA,  one of those days where nothing felt right. 2 stupid crashes, 1 slow speed speed catapault for woody and waricle to enjoy and then a full speed rail catch leaving the shape of my bum imprinted into bottom panelbig. Numbers suggest better than It felt. Nice to meet some new guys and to see waricle back on the water(and carpark).Really good to see some youth getting into it with richo's son and iqlt+ sailor Lachie getting amongst it.

Great to be sailing in Paradise with a great bunch. I felt like good speeds were on at times but  results didn't show for me. Still had fun and great sailing with Lucca. Hopefully tomorrow is on.

Nice work all, especially the Bozinator for speed and distance of the day but of course Slowy for nutter of the day.   Had a bit of a senior moment while you got your 40, got the drone out to record you and Richo on that last run and all was on track and going to plan:- faffed around changing the controller from new drone full manual mode to sport (check), goggles powered up (check), about to put the props on the drone...hmmm, where are the props??..then I remembered I had left them in my backpack case back home.  Oh well.

Had a quick look at the new fin data (will post more on SB later) but the fin with flexy edge showed good potential.  On big board (97litre) pointed 3 deg better upwind than regular Al Fangy before I hit the rock and lost the bottom 1/3 of flex edge.  After that incident it it pointed the same as FF but Fangy was way sketchier/dangerous.  Switching to the smaller 86 litre board, the damaged flex fin pointed better by 1 deg than the undamaged flex fin on larger board and a wopping 9 deg better than the regular FF.   Even in the big chop in the middle on 2nd time out still did 3 deg better than the normal Al Fangy dealing with less chop.  (this is on both tacks)  Zero weed issues with no gasket, felt the safest on this fin and zero structural issues.... Top speed was also on this fin.   All for $20.  Replace the flexy edge and use epoxy like previous fin to secure and its a keeper.

Nice to meet you Dr Cam and Lucca (waiting for 12 PB's when you post).
