Got an invite to jump onto the spa with my wife but I said sorry babe, the sun's out and the wind's kicking in, got to think of the team. Got down to Holiways Beach and the wind wasn't great but ok, rigged up my 7.8 as a rain squall was kicking in, nice. Took off and got my max 31 on the dial, goody but the board was feeling a bit big. Turned around as the sqall hit propper so headed in, stood in shore break and thought bugger it I'll give it a go, but na too strong so I planted my arse in the water and tried to waterstart. By now it was peeing down and the wind was howling, couldn't waterstart and the sail got ripped out of my hands, swam after my gear and tried to swim it around for another go and thinking maybe I should have my new NP vest on. Anyway the board took off swinging around the base untill the fin collected my forehead, now I can taste my own blood. Finially got back on and wind dropped a lot, worked my way back till the wind died compleatly and rain dead set started pouring now, kept pouring while I was thinking WTF and derigging. After the last year or so things better pick up or there's going to be the mother of all bon fires soon, well when the rain stops. My head's ok, it's thick as bricks so only a scratch.

The Short Story - Got skunked and swam home
The Long Story -
Well that goes down as my worst ever session. Couldn't win a trick. Raced from work, it was blowing about 15 to 20kn so rigged the 6.6. Walked down the beach and the wind had picked up considerably but thought I'd give it a go. Run out was barely in control then it went ballistic and I went into survival mode. Sailed all the way back without hooking in to harness at all but it wasn't going to get the better of me (arms pumped up bad). Raced up and rigged the 5.0 Overdrive even thinking this might be over powered. Walking it down the beach felt like it could have launched me skywards. Jumped into the water and just got out fully powered through the shore break when the wind decided to literally drop about 10knots. Persisted sailing as a few planing gust were still coming through but by the time I decided to call it quits and turn for home the wind disappeared altogether. Tried slogging it back to the beach but realised I wasn't going to make it and would be smashed up against Wreck Point rocks (if I ever got there), so started to swim it towards the next beach around. Waterstarted two or three times but it was futile. Took about an hour to swim it in, wife was furious (tried to call whilst swimming in on my mobile that I carry with me but credit had expired) as I was meant to be the starter at the kids swimming club.
What really shits me though is by the time I had got all the gear back home the wind was blowing its tits off again. Ah well there's always tomorrow.
EDIT - Just realised I'll have to edit out the road part (don't have realspeed on home comp). a guy who was watching from his house on top of Wreck Point came down and gave me a lift home. Will drop him off a six pack.
