What a great day!

Although the conditions weren't epic by West Kirby standards they were still good enough for me to break several of my PBs - peak speed, 10s, 5 x 10s and 250m.

It was only my second visit to WK and I arrived mid-morning to take a few photos of Will and Ian during their "warm up" session. The wind was due to be best in the afternoon so I was keen to save my energy!

I sailed on and off for about 4 hours but it was the final hour when things started falling into place. My tuning had improved the way the kit was behaving and I also borrowed a weight jacket from Pete Davis to see how it felt. With 3kg the difference was noticeable and with 6kg it was definitely a help. I will certainly be investing in one... either that or I'd better start eating more pies!

I'm looking forward to the next speed session at WK. Hopefully the wind will be more westerly so that I can hug the wall for the entire run!

Spot / Conditions: West Kirby (England), 25 knots gusting 35 knots (WSW)

Good sail with everyone and sunshine out again. Felt like a tough day to get high speeds so quite pleased with the time...wish I had put my wetsuit on quicker - had to watch Ian get the gust of the day as the rain squall came through :-)

Who to thank first...

Got to be Paul B for digging out his 5.2 Simmer for me ... seems to have done the trick

Brilliant day with all the usual suspects. If Ian, Steve (1+2), Faz, Paul, Mike, Mark etc didn't all make it look so easy - I don't think I'd ever have had the bottle to go for the big 40.

Totally stoked with a max of 42.51knots. Bumped my PB up by almost 5 knots

CHEERS EVERYONE

PS - Cleggy is OK. He had a big hit and pile dived his rig... been to hospital but confirmed JUST soft tissue injury !!!

Kit - Starboard Isonic 44 (2010) Moo Custom Asy 20, Simmer SCRace 2008 5.2

Great afternoons sailing in cross off conditions at the club.  There was quite a good swell running down the arm so it was great fun blasting along the swell lines and popping the odd jump but really hard to go proper broad.  Went for my alphas tho and pleased with my PB and also my highest top speed at Rutland which was done on a real kamikaze bear away in front of the club - 36.01 kts.  Think I may have sneaked the spot record for MAx. 2 sec but I'll have to wait for better conditions to try for Will's Av. record.

Well done to all the PB's smashed recently by Team East at the Ray and WK - need to get my ass in gear and get the speed board out for another go sometime.

Rutland / WSW 20-35kts / Slalom III 89 / NP RSR 5.8 / Choco Fireblade 30
