There are 3 important things for GPS speedsurfing...1) You got to be at the right place. 2) You got to be at the right time! , 3) You got to have GPS with you - I didn't Yesterday were truly great speed conditions in Almanarre. Southeast wind, 20-30 knots, downwind runs with 120-130 angle, abosolutely flat! My GPS was resting in my travel bag in apartment 50km away from spot.
Today the wind was much stronger, some 25-35+ knots. But the angle was totally square, and it was a LOT choppier than yesterday, probably because high tide? I realized after the first couple of runs that those are not PB conditions and just went for pleasure, speeding really long runs near the beach.
This is the first time on Slingshot fin for me (THANKS MITKO!!!) and I am totally overwhelmed how easy this fin is! Not only in flat water but also in chop. It was not possible to go near the beach (very dirty wind because of wooden fence along the beach) so I rather opted for clean wind and small chop. I am really surprised to see PB in 5x10 and NM categhory in such square conditions. I can hardly wait to try this fin in deep downwind runs! Also this old falcon 80 from 2007 is still quite fast!
