Lake Weyba, QLD, AU. Another waste of $3 diesel, was windy whole time rigging Futura111/40drake/7.8O/d, soon as Dave & I walked out it died & started Drizzling. Went back in & rigged Isonic117/45Drake/8.6O/d, dogged around for 2hrs getting the odd run before throwing in the towel & going home.

In the water at 9:15am, sailed for 4hrs then quick 15min break.  Back out for another 2 or 3 hrs.  Out of the water at 4:15pm.  Great day for distance.  Bit lonely. No one else with me.

GPS notes to self.  The Garmin D2 only has 10,000pts of memory, so if set at 1sec interval and GPX mode you only get just shy of 3 hrs.  Not enough.  This is the mistake i made today.  Great for normal sessions, but not all day distance. The GPS starts to create multiple files (17 in total) which have to be painfully combines in Garmin basecamp.  Also had to go thru each file looking at the data.  Better for long sessions to set to FIT file output which are a lot smaller files, and/or change the interval to 3, 4, 5 secs for GPX files.

Steve,

I can't imagine what 200+kms feels like. I've tried to increase my distances in the last month and managed a couple of 90+km efforts. I was shagged at the end and was barely able to carry my gear out of the water. I'm very impressed with your effort and inspired now to break into 100+kms.

Also well done rallying the Board Crazy Boys. Along with some strategic defections from other SE QLD teams, rumour has it that you are the driving force behind the BCBs resurgence. The gauntlet has well and truly been thrown down. The Mob will respond!

Thanks John for your kind words. Yes I'm loving windsurfing and GPSTC at present. It makes a solo sport a team sport which is more rewarding. Regarding distance I reckon you'll do the 100km real soon. Secret is to pick a nice 12-15kt day with small chop on big comfy gear. The other secret is to have some company to relieve the boredom, stop the mind games, and introduce a bit of competition to egg you on. Let me know and I'll join you. Steve.

Strategic defections... haha!  Congrats on the distance Steve, very impressive given the quite short runs, with that much gybe practice you'll be racing in open a soon.
