I got to Port early about 11:30 am and the promised wind wasn't showing it’s self so went and had coffee with a local. Back at the beach the wind hadn’t improved allot, so rigged big. Before I got on the water Fred, Billy, Cameron (from Vic.) and Hopptey Bob turned up during a rare wind gust so they rigged less big. Wind remained light for the next few hours but picked up slightly for a hour around 2:30. Despite the wind, I managed to clock up 65K. I think most people had a couple of sessions when the wind matched their gear.

Almost gave up on the traffic and turned in to Clifton for a sail but stuck it out to Port. Wind was a bit light but after getting through the traffic had to go out for a run. Got some nice runs out the back with Ian and Ed, good sailing guys.
Freddy forgot to remind me to take the gps so it was still sitting beside the computer. Amazing how enjoyable the sailing can be when numbers aren't involved. Will have to do it again Ed

Hoppy Bob, Billy, Cam (from Vic) and I made the trip to port to join Ian,Eddy,Andrew,Gaz and Mal and Ann who had only just arrived in port
from Victoria. Rigged a little small for the conditions but managed a couple of runs. Was a little disappointed with the wind but ....you get that
as Eddy would say. Afternoon was capped off with a nice cold beer .....much appreciated Billy.
Eddy and Gaz had a few drag races while Billy went off to see his relations in NZ
Ian sailed well and was on the water for quite a while. Andrew (Eddy star pupil is improving every session but could have done with a
little bigger sail.) Good to see Mal and Ann up here again enjoying the sun and providing us with a couple of tips and words of wisdom.
(Should catch up with you in Kurrimine.)

Very pleasant afternoon in Port Douglas with the crew - gota go have my dinner guys, report probably in the morning, as I will more than likely fall asleep
Post Edit** Aahh, I know myself only too well. It took 7 hrs, but the final report is in, my eyelids do not have holes in them. Turned out to re a rather lazy days sailing up in the beautiful little township of Port Douglas. Freddy was kind enough to be designated driver, picking up Hoppy Bob, Cameron (visiting from Melbourne) and myself. Met up with Ian, Andrew, Ed, Gaz and Mal /Ann also made an appearance - quite a gathering. Didint qute outnumber the kiters, but close.
Solid wind lines heading north and the anticipation had been built, but on arrival, there was another story to be told. Faced a barely 15knt breeze, it wasnt looking like the breeze had made it this far north. Any way, had to go with what we had and gave it a shot.
Hit the water with me mate Cam who had all the big gear and preceeded to make tracks for the Solomon Is and very quickly realised that this was going to be a slog session if we didnt get a larger plank underneath one's ample butt cheaks. Couple of nice planing runs out wide. Once you got out past the Headland, it seemed to pick up, but it also got rougher.
In the end, whilst Cam was having a rest, I stole back me old comfy boot - 125 AHD and had an pretty good session. Planning pretty well 100% of the rest of the session. Not overpowered, just comfy.
Certainly not the powered up session we all expected, but it was great to have a cold beer, Chicken Crimpy and a yack afterwards (well certainly, thats all Fred bloody did - hey Hoppy!!!)). Good to see you all guys and girls.
