Port Douglas, QLD, AU  Another frustrating pre season tune up session..got to beach after work ,my friend Simmi was already out blasting around..Rigged 7.3m North rig on97lt Isonic, was keen to try out  new boom and new 'Inflight out haul system'..First run out and inflight out haul system flew to bits..knew it was gunna be one of those days..Did one more run on 'bodged up' rig, wind cranked up to over 20kts,with no sail tuner got over powered.Looked like it was gunna stay 'honking' so did a sail change, trusty old 6.6m north..Usually run this old sail as a twin cam but it has a switch cam system and can be run with 3 cams which is what i did as it is getting very shabby and is a bit out of shape.Wind dropped out and couldn't get going..Andrew came for a blast  and he ran out of power as well. So after a good 'bitch session'we retuned and had another poor attempt at a sail..Wind started to come back in hard so it was back to beach for some more down haul..Was fully lit up for the last Hr with wind cranking over 20kts out the back in a very chopped up sea with some big waves rolling off the reef break out the back.'Think i was happy again'..But still a bit frustrated that i couldn't get sail exactly how i wanted it, due to rooted sail tuner..Andrew and Simmi both went home happy..As for me,guess i should be gratefull for what i get this time of year...Cheers Ed..

Had a rare afternoon sailing at this time of year.  Blowing pretty good around 4pm.  Rigged 7.2m fusion with solid downhaul.  Trusty iSonic, fitted my smallest fin for that board for the first time - a curved 47 cm rhino - handy for shedding some of the weed and crap that was floating around.  Second outing with my new waist harness.  Ed said I would be needing shorter lines - used my 28inch and had to set the boom nice and high to hook in - planning on 24inch lines.  Boom height was great for early planing but we had more than enough wind to play with and I needed the boom to be around the mid point to control and harness the drive.  Fin was great, nice and smooth, had the board zinging along.  Great to see Simmi out for a sail.  Gave it about and hour and a half till I ran out of condition.  Sun shining and having a ball with my mate Ed.  Showed him a Rhino Speed fin that I scored from Dieter for $100 bucks - this will be the largest fin I will run on my 120 Atomiq... looking forward to that.  Maybe I can sail that board without smashing the damn nose - I must have done that about 7-8 times last year - keeps costing me a bottle of Bourbon at Ed Wheatley's board repairs.  As Ed says, "there here for a good time not a long time".  Having the benefit of the adjustable outhaul is just fantastic from the point of view that you can really tune the outhaul.  But a couple of years back I picked up a second hand North XT adjustable downhaul, and for about 6 months it was awesome.  You add or release any increment of the downhaul.  Something that I think would add another tuning dimension - being able to adjust downhaul whenever the wind picked up or dropped off - as it was today, when I had to ask Ed to help crank the guts out of the sail.  I should have ducked up to the car park and got my downhaul crank, but was lazy - and I paid for it.  Stupid me.  Looking to get the second generation of the North XT.  A fantastic start to the year - we have had two high quality sails already = I loved the run back towards shore, with the board lit up, the sail running flat, feet in the straps and the fin doing its thing.  Life Is Good.Cool
