I stayed out when Tezza went in , was a bonus because then the wind went WNW and kicked in hard . Only stayed out another half hour after ya left Tezza.

Hey there guys , this PB of mine has been brought to the attention of  GPSTC admin by someone or someone's and i have recieved an email from them to bring to my attention that the Canmore GP-102 that I have been using for the last 5 years is no longer approved . After reading a thread on Seabreeze Windsurfing GPS & speed Sailing thread about the Canmore GPS a couple of forum posters have stated that the Canmore GP-102 does not record the accuracy of the unit . So its like the approved devices checks themselves and records how accurate it is , kind of like a person checking what he has done and ticking it off on a check sheet. Me personally I cannot see a problem with the GPS i have been using but to keep in with there rules I have to use another of their approved devices . I only got into this GPSTC group because of this

   The philosophy of the Challenge:

Inclusiveness: That everyone in the windsurfing community be included from fun and social sailors, to the serious including Pro's. Participation: That it is important to participate, to be involved, to develop skills and improve Personal Best Times. Be involved all season, not just summer. Fun: That most importantly we have fun, and however you get it, from stacking it on a 15 knot run, to doing 40+ knots, or just having a beer/bourbon/wine with your friends after a session. Building relationships: That we connect people with the same passion, meet new people, create connections intra, inter-state, international and generally just build relationships and grow our community.

More generally, Windsurfing at speed is also about getting fit, developing skills and technique, we can all learn how to windsurf better, and some elements of GPS mean you want to sail more in order to give yourself a better chance of performing better, so more time on water has multiple benefits.

I never ever thought that it would be that competative to some people in GPSTC , not my team btw they have been awesome.

So atm i will continue to use my Canmore GPS for my own interests and not post to GPSTC. Im unsure for now if ill get another approved GPS in the future Frown but I will keep checking posts from my team, keep up the awesome sailing    Cheers Guys

Gerry your sailing to good on your wave gear for the elites, maybe if you were cranking it up to 40 they may be checking accuracy.

Keep using the Canmore till they cut you off, tell them you are waiting for a Motion that never arrives or a approved GW60

that falls apart or the reliable GT31. If you get a new GPS get three so you can pick your best scores from each one to post

to the GPS. Maybe you should post this on Seabreeze GPS Speedsailig for more comments.

Nice PB Gerry well done!! You have earn this, As you are from a wave sailor back ground and getting right into speed sailing which is always

great to see your smoking gybe's!!! But find this disappointing as some sailor has the time to complain about another sailor number's which

mean notting too them as you have been sailing around for 5 years posting on GPSTC and when you get a PB it a issue.

Just can't understand it i thought it was for fun and too improve your own skills,

I have a spare GW-52 if needed.

Will see you Gerry for a sail!!!

Hey Gerry, probably not anyone complaining, another speedster had exactly the same query this week on his Canmore gps, they’ve been on the phase out list for a while now, he is going to change to a mini motion gps when they come in, similar basic data logger but with Bluetooth for uploading. That’s great if Barry or Tim can get you a spare one to use instead so you can still post

Hey Gerry Congrats on the pb, nice one. As Dezza mentioned, another speedster, ie me, received the same email. I have been using the canmore all year as well, mainly for foil posts which in the scheme of things involve pretty slow speeds. But I got a pb the day after you and received the same email. Look in my opinion, fair enough, they made the call to phase out the Canmore so I’ll go along with that. They have put me in touch with a couple of teams who have spare Motion Mini units from the batches ordered. So let me know if you are keen to get one and I’ll pass on the details. I think from memory each unit is $160-170 plus postage. Cheers, catchya on the water

Thanks for the heads up Dezza and Matt cheers guys . What really blows me out that it seems to me that it has taken a pb for admin to email us . I still believe that if there were no pb,s from me and Matt that we wouldnt have been emailed. Something for admin perhaps its time to go right through every sailor on GPSTC to see if they are using an approved GPS , good luck with that.
