Solid 20-25kts  gusting 25kts plus SSW Valentine, NSW, AU

 4.5m Blade- 85ltre WT Waveboard - 20cms fin

I'm baaack....sort of..Undecided

1st sail back after 7 weeks off for a broken rib. Before I got there I was so anxious my legs could hardly carry me.

The aim was to test the rib and stay safe. Tick

Not really the day to get back into it although it was nice to use the small sail.Surprisingly consistent wind! Surprised

Maxed out in the gusts so I was very careful. I only tried one gybe and just turned the board into the wind and waterstarted all the rest. Only short runs too in case I got into trouble.

Not too cold air wise - 16 degrees. The water is cold but a 3/4/5mm wettie with rashie under and windproof over, hood , helmet , impact vest , gloves and booties and it wasn't too bad.

 Exhausting...Embarassed

 Quite a few wingers.

Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU

Cold, dodgy wind, water too shallow at eastern end and the small flat bit was weed burg city. Apart from that it was a great short session..  nice to be back on the fin.

Good work Sue getting back on the horse.  Those rib injuries sure are painful.  I invested recently in Francks Gressier's free fall harness and a Forward Wip impact vest after my multi rib prang last year.  The combo I hope will reduce chance of rib injuries.  Time will tell but the ejector hook harness sure would have eliminated my previous injury.

Thanks everyone. I've had 2 rib injuries since last November. Both have been from the gear ripping out of my hands.Undecided

I wear a forward impact vest and they are great for impact injuries.  Save weeks of extra time recovering but they are no good for the recent type of injury.

I  think I just have some bad habits. Probably from always sailing in buggerall wind and not taking precautions when I finally get wind.

I'll have to be hyper vigilant re gusts..Undecided

If it happens again I think I'll take up bowls..Foot in mouth
