Boz (44860km): Melville Beach, WA, AU High tide, chop city and a big bunch out. Great to catch up with Shane been a while, none of the usual suspects apart from Nick2. Finally figured out my outside gybes in the messy chop, 90% out on the plane, was a simple thing foot pressure on outside rail. My gybes are strap to strap not used to step gybes. On the flats it’s straight forward, in the messy chop quite a different thing to be able to power out of the turn. All in all a great learning curve today. Fanatic 56 KAR 5.7 | ||||||||||||||||||

Pointman (26163km): Rocko Man that was windy. Rigged in 20-25K and conservatively chose the 5.0 to go with the H91 + 550 wing. Got on the water at 4:30 and I was getting smashed by 30K gusts heading upwind. It booted to 25-30K and stayed there, so I headed inshore and went for a few hairy-arsed bearaways. Unhooked to make it easier to bail, which I did a few times after over-foiling in big gusts. Stoked with a 2 second PB on the foil, even it it didn't feel very controlled. Fun sesh, pretty mental conditions, I think that is probably the strongest wind I've foiled in, so good to emerge unscathed

Slowboat (50065km): Melville Beach, WA, AU Late shift after work. Got there and the tide was really up, and Shane was saying it wasn't very windy so went with 7.7m on the 110 and 34MK3. Some solid bullets coming though at times- short and violent along with big wind shifts and a westerly bias (frontal) to the wind. Gave up chasing speed and did some crazy runs across the river with shane. Solid 25kt+ gusts out the back and hectic chop for Melville due to the high tide and wind direction having a lot of west. Shane went in and I decided on "one more" across the river. I saw the ferry coming so thought I might be able to get a run behind it if the ducks lined up. Just about to gybe on the other side and ---ping--- my harness bar snapped. Crazy. Two sessions in a row I snap a harness bar. Spewing since I was a few km from the carpark... my arms barely made it back. Not fun. Had a great sail overall. Looks like not much wind for a bit. |
