I was having illusions of sailing like Sarah Quita, on those YouTube vids honking through beautiful light green water in Bermuda with a gentle swell running through it. That was quickly shattered by being so overpowered I released my waste harness 2 inches easily. After doing everything else I could to slow it down a bit. There was no way I was rigging again on the super exposed beach after the luxury of Lilacs. The bus was getting a good sandblasting with the limited parking spots. I needed 3 arms to get gear out of the old girl. The water colour was incredible, the chop was a bit all over the show with wind shifts.
I Only let it loose a couple of times and had to reign it in pretty quickly. Fangy was probably not a good choice, but great leg exercise pulling it back in line after spinouts. I've never had a stingray have a crack at me until today. I was in about a foot of water going 25 knots up the far end, and he flicked his tail up on the opposite side my feet were on. Then I had a visit from 4 horses and riders! I knew immediately that I needed to keep the hell away from them.
Half a k wasn't enough and I had the lady from Yellowstone waving around her arms in absolute horror that I had come that close to them. I could just make out her gestures to her ranch hand that I had this huge bay to sail in and dared to come so close. They didn't stay for that long and I fully hate having QLD plates here, expecting a lovely letter on my windscreen. But alas, she must of had some men that needed branding back at the ranch.
