Davo (11110km):
2 days ago 2 categories Albany, WA, AU Absolutely gutted. All I wanted out of today was to knock my 34.296 from the swamp last year out off my top 5.
Woke at 5:30, was at Lilacs by 6 easily. Boz was rigged and putting his gears on. The conditions were perfect, it was going to happen!
All I had to do was rig the unfamiliar 5.4 how it was yesterday. Which was easy with Waricle's tuning advice ringing in my ears.
First run was feeling fast, just needed more distance, so I got upwind far enough to send it on my second and oh baby! It was glass and the Warp just kept accelerating. Apologies to the ladies in Lilacs accommodation for the expletives coming out of me. Job done ✔️
You all know where this is heading.
Big squall come through, got shifty and was dropping out, so I went in for a cuppa and to press that button on my mini. Nooooooooo, it had turned off!
I was shattered. I had told the Antman of my glory when we were out near the flags before I dredged in. Conditions were on and off, I was cold and exhausted from days and days of sailing. Farted around on a Mistral speed for a while with a 6.2 Koncept. Felt bad compared to the 5.4 and the tide had come in real quick. So I went back to the rifle range with mixed feelings of knowing I did it, but not being able to prove it.
And then the next kick in the balls was seeing I missed it by 0.071 fluffing around on the mistral!
My windsurfing cup runeth over, my thirst has been quenched and a wise man told me many times " there will always be another windy day Davo"
A massive thank you to all the great sailers in WA.
