Fun day sailing with Gaz

CA53, 6.4 Koncept, Talon 32 / Kermit, 6.4 Koncept, Talon 40. Green Island.

Nice low tide sailing with Toody then a quick run to the reef before jumping back on the boat. Finaly got the perfect fin setup for Kermit with the 6.4. Was good to be able to use a smaller sail again even if I was underpowered.

Should have gone for some alphas on Kermit but still happy with the way the speed board turns.

Congrats to Toody on the distance. He looked good cruising on the big gear.

WOOHOOO!!!

Bit different conditions down here to where my team mates were sailing! The wind was meant to back off a bit in the afternoon but it still felt like 40 knots in the gusts down the end of the strip. Probably would have been more comfortable on a 5.0 or smaller race sail (most others were on 4.0 or 4.4) and a smaller fin but totally stoked to get my 40.

Nice one Jarrod, congratulations... was contemplating heading to the Pit today but stuck with the home town of Invy instead.  Pretty glad i didnt go after seeing the photo of Pete.  Must've been epic, certainly some of the gusts and squalls here at Invy were.

Thanks for all the comments everyone, do I get to learn the secret handshake now? I'm definitely glad I didn't let that first experience put me off. The bigger fin made a huge difference to my confidence.
Toody, that's a huge session. 50km is a big day for me!
Luca, not sure about speed fortnight. My partner has been given an opportunity to transfer to Perth with her job so we are weighing that up at the moment. If we go it will be in September so I'll miss all the fun.

Hey Jarrod congrats on your 40 debut with the Ka Koyote, there a great sail to get into speeedsailing with especially when your getting a feel for it and having a few get offs.  Keep using it on the big days to get sorted and turn that 40 into a 10 sec run, then work on getting five of them.   The sail is good for 45 knot runs on the east bank so keep it up, your probably one of a few to take it to 40 knots.Cool

Cheers Spotty
