Went out from Melville Beach with the 6.6 and all the best intentions on what looked a fairly promising day, but sadly the only PB today would have been for the length of time spent in the drink, swimming and making the occassional unsucessful attempt to waterstart during a very lengthy lull, a long way from shore.

At least there was the thrilling spectacle of the stink-boaters doing their time trials to keep things interesting!

went to crab land today with 1 purpose in mind kilometers....i wasnt concerned with speed or nm or alphas..just k's.

i find this location is the easiest place for me to sail as its so flat and the wind is a shit load cleaner than the swan.especially in swinging, gusty winter westerlys.

isonic 105,neutron 7.6,brushcutter weed 34.

wind was pretty good, although quite gusty and very shifty at times but the 7.6 had me planning 95% of the time. good cruisy day all in all.

wind s/west to n/west and averaging i guess 15kn and gusts to 25 had me tail walking a couple of times!

got there and it was crap. Watched a few nice gusts come through with nothing in between. Eventually rigged 7.5m as everyone was packing up. It filled in to 15kts just before sunset so got a couple of runs in with Matt, Chris P  and Conrad. Everyone else long gone. Tried my new 30cm fin on the SP50 and it worked great with the 7.5m.

Hats off to the depth and bredth of SRM!

Snides and Claude have produced a super, disciplined, team focused effort that has delivered the team the lead for the moment.

Well done blokes - gold!!

Special mention to Claudes who did a "day-long" to get his Kms

Frustrating day at Melville beach with the wind 10 -20 knts, sailed on Isonic 111, 8.3 Code red & 44cm Vector for most of the time and used Isonic 86, 6.1 & 29cm F1 in rain squalls, just out to get km's today as was Snides down at Hardies, hopefully get SRM  back on top for June.

Data from Navi GT-31.

Think you'll do it Claude, Snides had about 150km I think, we've helped a bit by knocking the pit crew back a point.

So I think you and Steve have put WA back on top.

Steve that was a great result for you, I found the conditions very hard and had a smaller sail. Congratulations on the distance. Were you able to sail all of the squalls? some were preeety fierce!

Well done Steve on the distance, it was trying conditions out there with the gusts.

Thanks for double checking on me when my harness safety latch came open out in the middle of the boat channel, waiting for enough wind to water start buggered me for session.FrownLaughing

Evets...yeah except the 1 when i first hit the water....i had rigged in 10knots and hit the water right on cue with a 22 plus gust coming throughCry i struggled back to shore with my tail between my legs while nebbs vanished into the distance, when i got back i crawled- stuffed up the beach to hear bender say HTFU!Embarassed i was stuffed and i had 1200meters on the clock!!!!

anyway i waited 5 mins and the gust was gone and away i went..

Elmo, yep it was def a handful especially towards the end when the gusts where coming more regularyTongue out

i ended up doing the old tail walk with the arms fully in the brace posistion more times than i care to remember, should of been on the 5.8 even the 5 for a fair chunk of the day but really didnt find the time to come back to shore as i never knew when or if the wind was going to switch off.

i was only aiming for 95k's as this would of (with Claudes 95) in theory given us a good shot at top for the month, how ever i had no idea how the wind was going in perth so i kept going.

I can vouch for snides and tail walking. While being fuuully lit on my 7.7m and mid tail walk i glanced down wind and there was Snides. The only way i could tell it was him was by the Starboard man on the bottom of his Isonic 105 as he was tail dancing majorly. Today was tough and involed slogging, tail dancing and everything in between. Well done SRM quality effort once again.

hey crasher..def not sponsored by weetbix would be good to be sponsored by maccas though as i invest in them significantly....had my large cappo and 2 hash browns for breakfast on the way down to crabvilleWink

your right about it being boring sailing distance, i wont do it unless it benefiets the team, Claude and i spoke while i was on the road and we where both up for it...would of been a shit load easier yesterday on small gear hunting the gusts for  better peak speeds which i recon i would of got than sailing hours on end conserving energy and trying to stay warm..
