wind at last at melville, very nnwest and gusty.

1st part of the sess was on the silver bullet testing some fins...some lockwood, some snideswood...got sick of slogging in the lulls so switched to the ca50 that was better , found some weed on a few occasions- 1 throwing me over the handle bars...havent felt that sensation for a while! ended up being a bit dissapointed with the results as i felt i was flyinng at times....quite a few srm'ers out tonight, and i think they all had faster speeds on the dial than i...well done in advance lads!

commiserations to the captain who experienced another navi brain freeze...buggerYell

ca 50,40,kon 5.8 falcon27 3/4 and other various fins on the 40.

The usual combo for Melville!

6.6 Koncept 08, 95 Gladiator, 33 Tectonics F1

Had another GT-31 freeze up and missed the second half of my session. The unit is still on my desk - frozen on a 34.65 max display - can't turn it off, can't do anything - have to let the battery run flat. Again!!!Any advice? Tom C? Will the new software help?

See track in comments below!

fun lil session down at melville on a gusty nw'ly. the mid- tide allowed sailing over the sandbar, so most runs in quite flat water. got one nice gust to produce the max speed, probably helped by it being one of the few runs without catching weed....
gear: rsr5.8, f2sxs+tecfalc30, missileS+32gw 45-50ishdeg
all fast runs on sxs... not windy enough for the missile
*2sec posted is garmin display (software 37.2)

Nice to finally get some wind. Great fun. Wasnt going to waste the day focusing on 1 hours/NMs or alphas (sorry team) since we have had so little wind for so long. Started on the 6.6m with the SP50 trying the new KA28 and then 30cm slalom fin. Awesome. Loads of power but also very controllable and slippery. Got a couple of 37s on the dial with the 30cm fin. I optimistically tried the 5.8m with the SP44 using one of my carbon fins (26cm). Surprisingly it was OK but was a bit of work in the lulls- the fin is very small for a 26. Most of my best runs were on starboard tack heading into the corner over the weed banks using the 6.6m. But I hooked a nice gust on the small gear sailing through the chop on port tack and got a 38 on the dial.

Damn, the river is starting to feel like Hardies... almost need a weed fin there now.

Snides, Was that a GT-31 or the GT11.

If it was the 31, they have a nasty habit of doing this for some reasonYell

pedro- put the latest firmware on it. I did that to mine and so far its been behaving. I had loads of lockups on the original firmware. If you open it with a jewelers screwdriver you should be able to unplug the battery. That should get it out of its locked state.
