Come and Try Day at Inverloch with the Inverloch Windsurfing Club. A good day with plenty of windsurfers and many new sailors. Thanks to Doug and Mick. Pity Mick missed it. We had about ten completely new beginners. I helped SHQ's Josh with the beginners and some of the intermediates with water starting and carve gybing. In between lessons etc I took out Simon kit and SHQ demo gear for a muck around near the club. The old RSS did feel like more power over the V8.

Oh yeah the bed got a test with Cologne having a sleep. The bed got the thumbs up, but need to make sure Wicket is not ready to jump out when I open the tailgate. Lucky for the pillow that hit ground first.

Great day at Sandy point with Jak, not that windy only about 15 Knots with a few stronger patches at times, went for the big gear a bit of a contrast after using a 4.5 yesterday in the bay. We had a seal swiming around happily today until Jak tried to cut him in half with his 46 cm fin, never saw him after that poor little fellow Wink  Bit of weed around to day as well, hard to shake off.

Great sail at the Pit with Jman, was a fairly light SW 15 kts with a few gusts up to 20 or so, but very much sailable and smooth with absolutely no chop. Took the big gear and was pretty happy all day. Tried the Rocket in between but could not get it on the plane in between the gusts and was battling upwind. Decided to keep the 'ole workhorse, perfect for these lighter days. BTW no harm done to any marine life.Wink

Hey Steve, good speed for the Angling club, how was that shallow bit that sticks out of the run? Hopfully it will get washed away one day.

The wind was a bit up and down. The 7m was the best size sail for the whole day. The runs inside were very short runs due to that sand bar that sticks out. Some sailors were sailing over it without any trouble, but at 28knots I did not want to find out the hard way. Plus I was using SHQ gear, but if the sand bar was a bit deeper I may have gone quicker. Well only if the kiters didn't get in the way. I had to fight for space up close to the sand bar. The outer bar could have been good, if I had time to get out there. I spent most of the time teaching. Was a very good day though. Next time on that direction if it is only 7's or mid 6's I would like to try Inverloch at medium going to low tide. Some of my small runs were very clean. The isonic would have ripped with the 6.5m during late in the day. Even for the short runs the water was near perfect.

Inverloch looks like it had a bit more wind in the end. The wind was up nicely in the afternoon when the sun was out and dropped away a bit with the clouds. Evan was doing OK with his 6.5m and it looked like Kato took out a Prokids later in the day on the outer bank. My last runs was with my Futura 93 and SHQ 7.0m V8.

Had the 6.5m set with minimal outhaul. Still underpowered but nice in the gusts. Didn't put the gps on as there were a LOT of people on the water and I didn't expect to be trying too hard for speed. Tried the middle channel but wind died of when I got over there around lunch time and picked up again just as I made it back to the angling club for a break.  Only regret is I didn't give that 7m V8 a try but thanks for rigging it up anyway!

As the 7m does not get demo much I would suguest borrowing it with a x6 460 mast. I don't think they would mind if you had it for a couple of weeks. The best settings is max down haul as marked and set the outhaul to 1 or 2 cm more than marked.

Good speed Steve. I thought it could be busy in Inverloch like the Westgate Fwy in peak hour, hence my decision to join Jman at SP. Also I'm going on hols overseas end of May to end of June and thought this may be the last chance to sail there SW in warmer conditions. My 7.5m V8 was a bit backhandy at times in the gusts due to the fact that big JP 135 could not accelerate like the Rocket, overall a very enjoyable day with a lot of gybe practice in dead smooth water with plenty of room to play. Had my cam on also and am just editing the best clips.
